Internship Opportunities under NIT Calicut

Admission to the National Institute of Technology Mechanical Engineering is through JEE Main. The cutoff rank required for the general category to get a seat here in mechanical id is around 30000 for home state students and around 15000 for other state students The application form could be found on josaa website and the seat acceptance fee for josaa was 35000. The application date would be soon after jee advanced results are out

I took this course for my interest in mechanical. The faculty: student ratio is nearly 50:1 for all branches. The faculty members are highly qualified. A mid-sem exam would be conducted around 2 months after a sem begins and end-sem exams would be near the end of 4 months. The exams are a bit of more difficult side and a small number of people won't be able to pass

Most of the companies provide internship opportunities for the 5th sem students and based on their performance they can also convert into a full-time jobs. There are both paid internships and internships without pay in some top companies but the experience will be worth it.

Students who have completed the 6th semester can sit for placements. The main companies visited are Microsoft, and Google L&T among others. Most of the branches had 100 per cent placement and the average package was around 7 LPA. I wish to pursue higher studies in Aerospace Engineering after the degree

The cost to study is around 62500 for general students. Students having reservations will get a fee waiver. Those whose parental income is below 5LPA will have a 50 per cent fee waiver and those below 1LPA will have a 90 per cent fee waiver

So life in NIT Calicut is pretty chill. You got the annual technical fest Tathva happening in October and the annual cultural fest Ragam every year in March. You got different clubs both technical and non-technical which you can join as per your interests. In terms of sports, there are facilities for cricket, football, hockey, badminton, and Table tennis. You also got a gym and swimming pool here at NIT Calicut

The hostel rooms here are not that good. First-year you get a quadruple occupancy room which is actually meant for three people. You get a chair, table, bed coat and a cupboard (only 3). A hostel has both wifi and LAN connectivity whereas B hostel has only lan. Second year onwards students will be shifted to the mega hostel and its double occupancy with the same features as the other hostels. The registration process was done on the same day of reporting to college for admission and the hostel fee is like 2000 per month and the mess fee is around 3500 per month.
