Remarks

Getting admission to the B.Tech course at Calcutta University has two processes. One is by passing WBJEE Exam in 12+ level and another is completing a B.Sc degree at graduation level. For this process, the course will be 3 years and for the WBJEE process, the course will be 4 years. In the previous year, our admission fees are waived for online classes in the first semester. It has no any separate application form, l was admitted here by participating in WBJEE counselling. And also it provides a Decentralised Counseling process like other govt engineering colleges. For the reservation category, it provides a reservation seat.

Course Curriculum Overview

I have much interest in chemistry so l choose admission in Polymer Science and Technology dept. In our department, the strength of students is 30 and the ratio B.Sc B.Tech: HS B.Tech is 15:15 At Calcutta University, Semester Exams are(both mid sem and end sem) so difficult. The passing mark of the semester is 50% in B.Tech and questions must be on a conceptual basis, not a theoretical basis. But previous question papers must be helpful for the semester exam.

Class Size: 216Course Fees: INR 7000 per year

Internships Opportunities

In our dept, we should get a marketing officer in any company and also we get the opportunity to perform in the plant. I am now belonging from the 3rd Semester and our project or internship will start in the last semester, so l have no idea at this time, about the project course.

Placement Experience

In our department, in the 7th semester, students have to get opportunities for placements but after completing the full course they got more opportunities. Some companies like Haldia Petrochemical Limited, Reliance and Asian paints are comparing our college. The highest package is 11 to 12LPA. In our department, 90% of students have got placement. My plan is also to get placement in a reputed company.

Fees and Financial Aid

As my father is a government service employee, I did not get any scholarship or stipend facilities. Our Tuition fees for the first semester are 5000 and for another semester fees are 3000. And in this, first semester fees, and admission fees are also included in 5000 rupees.

Campus Life

On our campus, every year we get a freshers' party for welcoming the juniors. It has annual sports competitions in many types of sports. Social groups like- It has a Coding Club in CU for developing computer skills.

Hostel Facilities

First of all, one should get admission to a hostel in CU, if his/her home distance from the college is above 60km. I also am a hosteller and my distance is 124km from the house. The hostel Life of CU is totally urban and the infrastructure is so good. And also, we much enjoyed in freshers' party. In our, Rajabazar hostel is the best hostel of CU.

Hostel Fee: INR 31500 per year

ELIGIBILITY FOR CAMPUS PLACEMENT: At Brainware University students generally become eligible for campus placement from the final years of their course. For many programs placemnet preparation sactivities such as aptitude training, soft skills development, resume building, mock interviews begin earlier, you can say that these activities are incoporated from the 1st semester itself. COMAPINES VISIT: Several reowned and reputed compaines from IT, management,healthcare,media, and core sectors visits the university for campus recruitment. Placement drive include companines from domains such as software services, consulting,education,sales digital marketing etc. For my domain CSE AIML companies like Infosys,Amazon,Cognizant,Adobe etc visits. Each year multiple students receive job offers through campus drives and some students also secure multiple offers depending on their skills and performance. HIGHEST AND AVERAGE PACKAGE OFFERED: The highest package offered varies by course and recruiter and also with top performing students receive highest packages based on their role requirements and skills. It range from 12 LPA to 45 LPA. The average package offered to students is competitive for a private university and aligns with industry standards for entry level roles. These generally range from 3.5 to 8 LPA. PRECENTAGE OF STUDENTS GETTING PLACED: Placement outcome mostlky depend on academic performance, attendance, communication skills, technical knowledge, and participation in training sessions. Students who actively engage in placement preparation have better placement success. About 98% students were placed in 2023. Placement was average if you have good background knowledge so you will definitely get placed. After 7th semester companies started coming and also there is different criteria for all companies like some company required more than 8 CGPA that completely dependent on company preferences. The placement cell of my college is very strong.From 7th semester students become eligible for campus placements.There are around 50 companies visited in the college such as TCS,Intel. Microsft. Deloitte,etc.205 students are placed in TCS in year 2019. 415 students are placed in campus placement last year. Maximum CTC was 25 lacs/pa and average CTC was 5.5 lacs/pa previous year.After Jadhavpur University,the average CTC of the college is higher than IEM. Above 95% placements for IT,CSE and ECE students.There are around 55-60% placements in other department.My plans are doing some great things after getting the degree.

Honest review of CU as a B.Tech student of ECE

I had applied to JU and GCECT, GCELT. I was accepted in GCECT and GCELT for CSE and other brances but opted for CU ECE because of its reputation and future scope.
