Got internship at Central Government department

My CET ranking was 7250 and got a seat in SIT college through CET ranking only in the First round itself. There were 3 rounds while we opted for our desired colleges according to our ranking and category or caste if we applied we will be allotted to the applicable college and if we don't like the allotted college or wanted to try other colleges we can go for the next rounds. I was satisfied with the first round itself as I got a government seat at SIT college Tumkur in the civil engineering department. The government fee was around 50000 and the college administration fee was around 300000 total of 80000 was costed at the time of my study hostel fee was extra for hostel students. There was a reservation according to caste wise I was from the general category soo I didn't get any reservations and scholarship facilities from the government are available for SC and ST category students. The admission process was smooth in our college and it was online through the college website.

I chose this course according to my CET ranking civil engineering is a vast branch and getting any seat in a prestige college like SIT is good regardless of the branch we will be getting placed with little effort on-campus with at least 4lpa. As I am from the civil engineering department the department is equipped with good laboratories and lab materials. Faculties were also well experienced and PhD holders and had vast knowledge about the civil field and real-time project experience their teaching method is also effective as they give real-time examples and show some PPT regarding the topics and provide the notes prepared by them. When comes to exams there will be 4 quizzes each month and 2 internals and then a semester exam for each subject. preparation was quite easy if we were attentive in classes and if we studied well for quizzes and internals. Also, there was a summer batch available for failed students where they will teach again and take classes it was included with an extra fee.

Many internship opportunities are there according to the branch and for our civil engineering department for the selected students including 20 members, we got an internship opportunity at the National Highway Authority of India where we learned a lot about real-time projects, experience and civil work culture. A stipend of about 12 thousand was given for 45 days. For us in college for 3 rd year, minor projects will be there and for final year students major projects will be there and faculties are very friendly and will guide us through selecting the topic for the project and thorough out project completion.

The placement was pretty good in our college the placement department is there to look and manage and guide the students through the placement process. The students will be eligible to participate in placement from 3 rd year only. Regardless of branches, many mass recruitment companies from the IT field like Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, and Dxc will hire students with minimal IT knowledge and after joining they will train them according to their requirements. The average package for placement was 4.5 LPA which is pretty good for freshers and civil core companies like L and T offered 6.5 LPA for required students. From the civil branch, 40 to 59 per cent of students got placed but from CS, IS, and EC placement rate is very high. CS students got the highest package around 30 lap with Microsoft companies. I got placed in Dxc It company with a 4lpa package which I chose for my career.

I got admitted to the college in the year 2018 and completed at the correct time in the year 2022 throughout the 4 years the fee structure was the same and there was no considerable hike in any fee. In the first year, it was around 81 thousand and in the second year it was reduced actually to 80 thousand and the fee was fluctuating with 1 or 2 thousand only the fee structure was like around 50000 government fee and 30000 administration fee for the students got seat through CET and for the Comedk students total fee was around 200000 and every year it was around that only. When comes to scholarships for OBC students every year they got scholarships of around 20 to 25 thousand and for SC, and ST students it was around 50 thousand for general category students scholarship was not available, this scholarship was provided by the government regardless of any college. Placement is pretty good I got placed in IT company DXc (4lpa) mass IT company that will recruit all stream students for the IT field.

College life was very fun and enjoyable and there were many events and curriculum activities every semester. Halcyon was the biggest annual fest conducted in college which include sports events and technical quizzes many cultural events were included and students from various colleges were offered to participate and win cash prizes. And also branch wise annual branch event was conducted by respective branch students with lecture guide and for our civil engineering department, the event was called by the name SHELTER it was such a useful event and many technical quizzes and games were conducted and prizes were distributed. Many individual groups were there created by students like spandana a Kannada social group and many clubs and groups were open to freshers where we can join and become members of the club.
