Remarks

The admission into NIE, Mysore is based on the exam KCET and COMEDK both of which have their cutoff for the college. The exam is not that difficult to qualify mainly if you're a jee aspirant. The details of the college can be found on the official website nie.ac. where you can get notified of the applications, application fees, and dates. Along with merit-based enrollment into the college, various scholarships can be availed during admission. But keep in mind that only students who pursued 10th and 12th boards in Karnataka can avail of this scholarship. There are no scholarships available for students who come from outside and the fee for outside students is 2,20,000. The college is not worth the fees for the students who come from outside Karnataka in terms of campus life and enjoyment related to fests conducted. Note that there is no fest or enjoyment in this college. Academic and placement wise it's one of the top-rated colleges, and admission is smooth.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I am personally interested in this course in Computer Science. The faculty-to-student ratio is not as much as expected but it is decent enough. All the professors either graduated from VTU or from NIE itself although there are quite a few exceptionally talented professors. They are well-versed in the subject but the drawback is that no professor teaches a single subject. Every professor tries their level best to teach whatever subject they can but some of them fail to do so. But college subjects are pretty easy and manageable. Exams will be conducted once every 45 days and it depends on the professor and the subject whether you'll pass or not. Attendance in classes is taken very seriously which is a whopping 85%, meaning you can't spare any time for the development of any extra skills required for placements. It's not that difficult to pass at all. The internal exams can be done in one night but preparation is needed for semester exams.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

there are several come to nie for internship and give pre placement offer to a good number of people , jp morgan came first , then in 4th sem fidelity came and took good number of people and we get pay pal internship and google internship etc

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is too expensive if you're from outside of Karnataka plus you don't get any sort of scholarship or financial assistance for people outside Karnataka. The hostel fees have been hiked this year without prior notice and now the fees are not worth it for the hostel. Considering the academic fees it depends on how you see it. If your placement is oriented and willing to sacrifice any amount of happiness then it is totally worth it for you. But many people do prefer enjoyment also in the campus and that won't be available here. There is no funding for clubs. Considering the stipend some of my friends were placed in Fidelity which gives a stipend of 35k and some of them in JP Morgan who will be paid 70k per month and it'll be a 3-month internship. Surviving in this college with much fewer facilities with such a fee is nearly impossible unless you dedicate your life towards placement from the beginning. Of course, you can have your personal enjoyment roaming around the city.

Campus Life

2

There are quite a few active clubs in the college but none of them have any funding. They have the freedom to conduct any event. A few of the interesting clubs can be CreditCircle which is a financial club, GFG which is all about coding and computer science related, and also there are robotics and other mechanical clubs. The good thing about this college is that the library is really rich in books. Apart from academic books, the library is replenished with all sorts of books including novels and journals. There is active participation in sports with team selections in every sport possible. There will be an intercollege sports meet every even semester. There will be one fest conducted every even semester which to be honest is so bad that no one attends. There is very little funding for the fests and there will be no enjoyment. A better plan is to enjoy yourself by going on trips. There is no campus, by the way, there is one boy's hostel, and one girl's hostel admin block which has labs, and classes.

Students in my college have a very good amount of campus placements where students become eligible from the final year 7th semester however the placement cell starts training from the 1st year means 1st semester itself like training for aptitude test, coding and mock interviews. Top it companies like TCS infosys, wipro, Accenture, capgemini, cognizant, IBM, tech mahindra mind tree. The campus receives 300+ offers. The average package 8 - 10 LPA and highest package 54 LPA. Every year 90% students are placed. After my degree i am planning to higher studies in abroad.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is generally detailed and aligned with industry Expectations but there is still scope for modernisation in certain areas.Overall i would like to rate 8/10. The syllabus include both theoretical and multiple lab components which ensures hands on learning. The practical labs like programming work and project with learning help students understand how concepts are applied in real work places. A few theory heavy subjects feel outdated and no longer match the current industry demand this could be revised or replaced.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements from the 6th semester, but the overall placement scenario in DSCE for CSE is below average. Not even 50% of students get placed in good companies. Most students end up getting offers from mass recruiters or in sales and non-tech roles. Only a small percentage of top performers get decent technical packages. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini, Accenture, Cognizant, and a few mid-tier companies visit the campus, but the number of high-package, core-tech roles is very limited. The average package is on the lower side compared to other top COMEDK colleges. Because of this, many students plan for higher studies, certification courses, or off-campus drives after completing the degree. The on-campus placement support definitely needs improvement, especially for technical roles.”
