Galgotias College brief review

When I took admission, college admissions were through the UPSEE exam. Now I think it is through JEE. College also takes direct applications which cost extra according to the choice of branch and Xth and XIIth score.

I am a CSE student. It is usually the first choice of students. In my department, there are around 24-28 teachers for 240-260 students. Faculty ranges from great to mediocre. Overall it's good. Teachers use pdfs and ppts for lectures. They also share notes. There are usually three internal exams and one external exam per semester. Faculty for the first year pays attention to each student. As the subjects resemble school subjects, similarly the atmosphere is also like school. As the course continues teachers become more distant. They only guide or explain something deeply when a student seems interested otherwise "Ek din Pehle rattan Maro or ho Jao pass". Aktu exams are not that tough, you can easily clear them by studying seriously for a few hours. On contrary getting good marks is equally difficult. Most students get marks in the range of 60-75. Internal marks are very important as they will decide your final CGPA. Scoring well in your initial internals and the first year helps in this matter.

Campus placement activities start at the end of the sixth semester. Average offers are 3.75 to 6 LPA. There are mass recruiters like cognizant, Wipro, Infosys that take most of the students. The highest package from my batch is 19lpa and it will go up as one semester is remaining. CSE and IT students mostly get placed.

You will get an idea about the fees for all years during the admission time. It will not vary that much. There is a scheme of fee waiver which I also happen to be a part of. Five per cent of seats for each course are reserved for a fee waiver. Students get these seats according to their exam (UPSEE or JEE) scores. No tuition fees are charged to these students. There is also the UP scholarships program which refunds around 50 to 60 per cent of tuition fees. There is a placement cell which is common for Galgotias College and Galgotias University. It guarantees 100 per cent placement. Well in reality mass recruiters take most of the students. Cognizant, Wipro, Infosys, and HCL are some companies that hire the majority of students. I am in my 7th sem and currently have two offers. One from Cognizant (4.25 LPA) and the other from Infosys (6.25 LPA). The highest till now from my batch is 19lpa. One fest is done every year (UNIFEST), which is very popular in Greater Noida. Unfortunately, I have only attended one in three years as Corona cancelled everything. The library is a plus for this college. Free wifi, books availability, staff, building, everything is good. All classrooms have fans, only a few buildings have classrooms with projectors and AC. Inter-branch competitions are organized on regular basis. The college has teams for cricket, football, basketball and athletics. If one is interested, he/she will find plenty of support to participate and grow. There are many clubs. I will not name them because any possible club that you can imagine, is there. It is all glittery in the first year. The clubs that I am talking about are on the College level that is managed by the college student council. Then there are separate clubs for each department. Redundancy at its peak. These have the involvement of department teachers and Hods. College life at Galgotias can be enjoyed if you are of the right mindset
