Remarks
I selected B.E mechanical engineering course at RGIT. Eligibility of this course is that the student should have passed the 12th board exam and he/she should have a valid JEE or CET score. The admission process is purely based on a merit list. You can apply for this college on the CET website. I have opted for the TFWS scheme. Due to this, I don't have to pay a tuition fee for my course. It is based on a merit list. Every course has 6 seats reserved for this scheme and students can apply if their parents are less than 8 lakh. The admission process is very good and smooth.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose the mechanical engineering course because I liked it and I heard good reviews for this course at RGIT. Faculty to student ratio is somewhat moderate. The faculty is very qualified and very helpful. They make me feel like I belong there. For my course, there are two internet assessment tests, one viva, and one final semester exam.
Internships Opportunities
We have to do a major project last year. Professors help us a lot during this major project. It is compulsory for the completion of the degree. Internships are not provided by our college but you can apply from outside.
Placement Experience
Students get eligible for placements in the 7th semester. The placements are not that great. Other colleges got better placements than RGIT. Companies visited for mechanical course till now are : Burns and McDonnell, Worley, reliance retail, and other IT companies. The percentage of students getting placements for mechanical courses is very low compared to IT courses. I am planning on doing a master's after getting the degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees structure is similar to every other engineering college. Scholarships are not available. Campus job is also not available. You can get financial assistance by taking a student loan. You can also pay fees in installments.
Campus Life
Our college has two major fests. One is ZODIAC. Which is a techno-cultural annual fest. And another is INNOVISION, which is a technical fest. Our library is big enough. It has many books which you can refer to for studies. Only reference books are available. Classrooms are ok. Some classrooms have projects. Right in not air-conditioned. We also have a sports fest and small competitions. RGIT has many student committees which are very active and can be good extracurricular activities.
