Remarks

60% in 12th standard with sciences. You can find the application form on the official website of Chandernagore College. Reservation benefits for the scheduled cast are given. No reservation benefits were availed by me. The courses are mentioned and the administration should be more helpful.

Course Curriculum Overview

I am an environmentalist and nature reservation enthusiast. Hence, this course took my attention. 3 Associate teachers were on the faculty of Chandernagore college and 9 students enrolled in the 2019-20 batch. Two of our respected teachers were postgraduates and otherwise of M.Phil. qualification. The teaching process and exams were aligned with our courses and conducted timely.

Class Size: 9Course Fees: INR 3000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees were nominal with approximately 1500 each semester for most of the courses and were divided into a few sections. Youth job assistance and on-campus you help to find jobs were given. Scholarships and industrial courses were given and conducted regularly.

Campus Life

Regular socials and fests were arranged but not every year. The college administration was strict with students for giving out books, The central library had great resources and helpful for studying. Annual sports and inter-college sports competition is arranged every year. NSS and science clubs take initiative to arrange few exhibitions, debate and other activities.

Hostel Facilities

My rented accomodation was value for price. The living quarters were sanitised each two weeks. There were few arrangements that were of disagreeable. Wifi was given to all the residences and meals were quite good as well.

Placement Experience:

College does provide internship opportunities both through the placement cell as well as department faculty. Semester 5 and Semester 7 students are eligible for placements. Average package is about 5.5 lakh per annum for microbiology course. Although placement percentage is on the lower side majority of students go for higher studies. Many prepare for exams like GATE, IIT JAM, etc.

Placement Experience:

college placements are good in this college with a number of good financial and consultancy firms coming in with new gen companies as well in the service and sales industry. moreoever getting a good placement in a top financial or consultancy placement requires a POR in a good society as a criteria, its not really required but adds to your chances of getting it. moreover you require to participate in a number of case study competitions for the same as well. my plans after graduation is probably working for a year or two after which i plan on doing my MBA. around 50-60% who apply get a placement.

My experience at St. Xavier's

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course theory helps us gain a solid understanding of the subject matter. Film studies and Mass Communication theory classes has laid down the foundation of the subject- from what is a shot and the kinds of shots and angles, to the beginning of radio in India and essays by CS Pierce and John Berger. The course also includes practical classes in the sound labs, editing labs and we will learn to use a camera, as one of the things we will have to do in this course is make films of our own.

Placement Experience:

Our college has a very active placement cell that fetches jobs for everyone who needs and deserve it. The highest package was 24 lacs per annum last year and it is only expected to go up this round almost all students to set for placements are placed but in my department specifically most opt for higher studies like myself.

The college offers good placements for economis. Students in their final year are eligible for campus placements and there is a cell dedicated to placements. Many students do not opt for placements and go for higher studies but many students who opt for it, get placed with decent packages. Many well-known companies visit the campus as well. Placement Experience:

We have a placement cell helping students get placed. They keep posting opportunities like internships and fellowships throughout the year to groom students and give them exposure and experience. Placements can go to very high packages like those in Data Science, Big 4 consulting or core finance or banking jobs. CAs, CFAs and FRMs do well in the placements. The highest packages could surpass 12-13 LPA and median packages are close to 6-7 LPA. DE Shaw, Zomato, Myntra, Meesho, TCS and McKinsey are some top companies coming here.

In our batch, we are 21 students who come regularly, the faculties are 6, whereas 2 lab attendants. All faculties are MSc and 4 of them have PhDs.
