Remarks

There are three process by which one can take admission in the college - Qualifying WBJEE and securing a seat during the counselling process conducted by WBJEE board. (80% seats), Qualifying JEE main and securing a seat during the JEE counselling process conducted by WBJEE board.(10% seats), Management quota by directly contacting the college office.(10% seats). To be eligible for admission through any of the above three process, the candidate has to qualify the 10+2 exams from a recognized board/council in India and must not have a lapse of three years or more. In addition, the candidate has to less than 20 years of age at the time of securing admission in the college. The application form for the admission through any of the three processes is available in the college office at the time of admission. Necessary documents must be produced at the time of admission. Presence of parents of notarized guardians is a must during the entire admission process.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

I chose this college because this college is an excellent place to study. The college is average in terms of every parameters except education. The college is known for its strictest discipline and high quality of teaching -learning process made possible by the well qualified teachers. The teacher student ratio is 1:60 in all departments except electrical engineering where the ratio stands on 1:50 on an average. The college boats of its highly qualified, well skilled teachers. All the teachers have a master degree in their respective subjects and some of them even possess a PhD degree from reputed institutions like Jadavpur University. Many teachers do have a 5-7 years of industrial experience prior to teaching. One thing that is never compromised in the college is studies. One has to appear a test/exam/viva every 1 month. Constant assignments/homework are the norm in the college. Bunking classes leads to direct suspension and 75 percent attendance is mandatory for semester exams.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

The college encourages internships only from second year onwards. The college doesn't allow internships from outside apart from those arranged by the college. Almost 7-8 internship opportunities are available for a student from second to fourth year. 75% of the students have interned in one or the other company. They get a maximum stipend of 35,000 for two months. Certificates of internships are provided by the companies.

Placement Experience

2.5

Students become eligible for campus placements from the third year itself. However fourth year students are given preference. The top 10 students of each department are 100% sure to get placements. 75% students get placed in every department except EE with only 25% placement that too in IT sector. Good companies don't visit the campus except mass recruiters like TCS, Infosys and Capgemini. They take students in bulk and 85% percent of those recruited leave their jobs within two years. The average CTC is meagre 4 lakh per annum but for exceptionally well students it is as high as 1 crore + like that of an EE student in 2022. Some passed out CSE students who have cracked hackathons have secured 75 lakh per annum jobs in off-campus placements in Capgemini. Few students have got research opportunities later in countries like USA, Netherlands and Germany. Overall good college for studies and well as average placements. For great students the college has great opportunities.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college has one of the lowest fee Structures among the private engineering colleges in Kolkata. The first semester fee is quite high at 65,000 which includes caution money of 10,000 which is refundable. From second semester onwards the fee is 45,000. The college doesn't provide any scholarships or financial assistance as other minority institutions do.The college provides assistance in filling scholarship forms like Vivekananda scholarship, Minority or merit-based scholarship, post-matric scholarship, Colgate or Birla scholarship, etc. The college accepts educational credit card scheme under Govt. of West Bengal. The college has 75% on-campus placements for departments like IT,CSE and ECE. The AIML department is new and it's placement data remains awaited. EE department has placements only in IT sector and only 10% non- IT placements. Average package is 4 lakh and maximum package for the year 2022 is 1 crore+ which was secured by EE department student.

Campus Life

1.5

The college conducts a tech fest ever year in the month of February but it is a low-key affair with low budget. The Library has good number of books, journals and reference materials. Online journals are also available. The library staff is very rude and you are not free to enter the library and read anything peacefully. Classrooms are hot rooms with direct scorching sunlight coming in plus the terrible ventilation. Broken window panes, torn curtains, shaky benches and pale-looking classroom. Sports are held up to a good extent but non- participants cannot cheer their friends. Even the inter-departmental football, cricket and badminton finals are held during class hours and all non- participants are expected to listen carefully to the ongoing classes. Extra-curricular activities are undertaken like farewell, awareness and cleanliness drive, debate, drawing, photography, dance, celebration of important days and events. The college has no club/website run by students. Tragic social life.

Placement Experience:

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin

7th semester is when the students get to sit for placements. I am not sure about the total no of companies visited but I am aware of the name of few companies like IBM Infosys Wipro Capsitech Tech Mahindra cognizant etc . Mostly the girls are 100 percent placed cause there is diversity hiring. Mass recruiters is what visit our campus mostly.. I personally would look for a job after graduation highest package offered displayed by college is 75 lpa but I don't think so it is real. Maybe someone had worked hard and got placed off campus. On campus highest isbi guess 12-14 lpa

Course Curriculum Overview:

- I choose Data Science as it is new to my college when comparing with the other branches. The curriculum is just okay it is not per industry standards but if students deep drives in each aspects then they are likely to crack GATE exams. - The whole curriculum needs and improvement from the very 1st Year and removal of irrelevant subjects like Discrete Mathematics, Electonics, Biology for IT branches are required. - Semester exams are conducted every 6 months and CTs are conducted every 2 months

For campus placements student become eligible from the 7th semester onwards and for internships student get eligible from 5th semester onwards. Wide no of companies visited our campus around 180+ and made around 580+ offers to the students. The highest salary was 58LPA which was offered by DE Shaw and the highest accepted salary was 51LPA in Microsoft. The average package rolls roughly around 10-12 LPA.The profile offered include SDE roles, management roles, finance in some cases. The overall placement percentage was around 80% with Branches like electrical and metallurgy moving above 90% followed by CSE and ECE in the mid 80s while for biotech and civil the placement percentage are generally below 70.My plans after getting the degree is to land a job offer from on campus placements.Therefafter maybe look out for and MBA from top B schools of india.
