B.Tech from IIT Ropar

IIT Ropar has expert faculty in every department. These four years were no more than an educational and fun one. Institute accepts admission to the engineering courses through JoSAA counselling sessions and other applications are invited online. My counselling session went very well and I paid an admission fee on the official website. Clearance of JEE Main is required to get admission into the course.

The programme structure builds a strong foundation for a student in this field. Hands-on training and designing of the course projects were given the main focus since they induced creative thinking among students. The qualification of the professors was very high. Faculty: student ratio was maintained in a uniform manner and the teaching methods adopted by them seemed quite appropriate.

I sat for the placements recently and this year they have been great. 84.96% of my batch got placed. Top recruiters of the week were Google, Amazon, Ericsson, Deloitte, Microsoft. Highest CTC went to Rs. 18 LPA. IT, Finance, Consulting, Core Engineering were the top sectors that offered placement opportunities for the students. I myself got more than 2 offers from some great companies with good CTC.

Rs.9.44 lakhs can be a big amount for families who do not come from a strong financial background. Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship is available for the students based on JEE rank scored by them. A student who has availed of the scholarship has to maintain academic performance for the entire four years of the course. Separate form filling is there for the financial aid.

Events and competitions made my campus life a fun one. Campus and hostel is surrounded by lush green gardens and bushes. I participated in the Fine Arts club since i had a thing for art and paintings. I used to attend lectures till after noon and in the evening during sunset i use to capture the view on my paper. Participation in the events boosted my confidence to a great extent and also opened up new extra curricular fields for me.
