Course Curriculum Overview
Economics is a field with a lot of opportunities and Jadavpur University offers the best undergrad course in Econ in West Bengal. The faculty, the library, the infrastructure everything is top-notch. The teacher-student ratio is also pretty good. Each and every professor of the faculty have a Ph.D. either from ISI or DU or other reputed universities and institutes in India. Exams are taken quite frequently as they are divided into mid-sem and end-sem. Internals and Tutorials are also conducted for the students' benefit.
Placement Experience
If you're an Econ student then placements happen from the last semester in Masters' level i.e 9th or 10th Sem. Companies like RBI, HSBC, SBI, etc recruit from JU. The average package ranges from 2 LPA to 3LPA. My plan after completing MA in Econ from JU.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure varies department-wise. But for the subjects in the Arts department, it's around Rs. 1250 per year. Student scholarship along with financial assistance is available. The university also offers a lot of internship opportunities.
Campus Life
Department-wise fests are conducted all throughout the year. The most notable event in the Economics department is Young Economist Students' Meet (YESM) which is East-Asia's largest econ fest. Thousands of books with almost millions of journals are available in the library. There's a total of 37 libraries in the entire campus. All the classrooms have a projector, whiteboard, and 4 ACs. Sports and extracurricular activities are conducted all through the year. There is FETSU which is the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Student's Union and AFSU which is the Arts Faculty Students' Union.
