CALCUTTA UNIVERSITY IS THE 2ND BEST COLLEGE AFTER JU THROUGH WBJEE

I got this college through wbjee with a rank of 915 and opted for Information technology .I didn't get the cse branch as it was closed within 600 rank as many of you can see the cutoff off increased drastically this year and the interest of opting for core branches in jadavpur decreased although i left this college after jossa counseling with myjee mains rank

Although i attended only 3 months class in this college and then left this college for nit Durgapur.I can give you a brief experience of the curriculum from my side and from seniors.The CSE syllabus is mostly aligned with GATE. But some professors teach you stuff beyond requirements. You don’t get to choose electives. The electives are assigned based on the availability of teachers. Electives are mostly trendy subjects like Cloud or Data Mining but are assigned only in the 7th and 8th semesters. Teachers go very slow at the start of the term and pace up at the end to finish the syllabus somehow.Lets tell about stream change All first-year students have the option to change their streams based on vacancy and SGPA. This happens after your 2nd-semester grades are out.

We don't have a proper internship for core branches you have to prepare for it off campus.Although drom this year Industrial training system has changed and it will be held in two parts , one after 2nd year and then after third year which is usually chosen by your department and then you yourself also can do internship by taking permission from your respective HOD's.Most interna are for Cse and It students.

Earlier We didn'thave a placement officer but now it is appointed but not a very large placement cell organisation. Placements take place mainly with the sole initiative of Professors and department Hods. CU has alumni all over the world with many of them holding top posts in MNCs. This is a great advantage for the students as it draws companies from varies parts of the country. Entrepreneur Cell - we don't have a proper E-Cell.Cu doesn't publish its official placement record in its site so many students till 4th year doesn't have a perfect picture of it

The total fees of 4 years is 40,000 so if you are form financial weak class .You can get the best education from this renowned college at a very affordable price to get your Btech degree.There are also very scholarship available from the West Bengal government schemes for weaker sections studies which is given you by the college during the first few days

For Engineering we have Three campuses situated in Rajabazaar, Saltlake and Ballygunge. For First years, CSE,OOE,IT it's saltlake campus.For CE,CT,PST,EE,,IE,ECE it's Rajabazaar campus and for JFT it's Ballygunge Campus. All the campuses are beautiful from their own perspective. Each campus has a library , canteen and hostel ( except Saltlake Campus). Rajabazaar campus too has a gym for students.We till now don't have such type of fest but we do have freshers welcome and reunion ( For Cse , it's also a type of Tech fest Renevatio , For Chemical it's Chemcarnation and for IT it's Algorythm). But the. We are planning to hold a Tech fest but due to lack of support , we are not able to do so , so hope that the new students will help us in doing this.
