Remarks

The admission process is nice and transparent. I don't see any scope of improvement. But yes they should give higher weightage to CAT score because the students give 200% in securing a good percentile and then they get rejected because of past academic records or lack of experience or some other criteria which I feel is a little unfair. Otherwise all good.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The exams were held timely mostly though there were sometimes when they had to be postponed by some days. It is fine because the exams were held virtually and there were obvious technological challenges for the college administration initially. And I don't have any problem with that. In terms of difficulty, they were easy to moderate. Our college has relative grading for most of the courses. So it is easy to pass unless you have done some serious malpractice. Some professors really gave difficult questions. But if you can't do it then so can't the others as well and therefore grades won't be affected much.

Internships Opportunities

3

Companies such as Godrej, Cognizant, Aditya Birla, Flipkart, DE Shaw, etc. Have visited the campus and the two months. Roles can range from financial analysts to sales managers. It depends on the current availability of the company. But startups are the most prominent summer internship hirers. This is because they get students at a lower cost. I was placed at a marketing outsourcing startup where my project was to implement a new delivery system for the company and improve the company's overall brand image.

Placement Experience

4

There are a total of 6 semesters in this college in the two years and students are eligible for final campus placements after completing their 3rd semester and the mandatory summer internship. Around 120+ companies visit the campus for final placements and give an average CTC of around INR 15 lakhs. The number of offers is restricted to 1 per person unless he/she has got more than 1 offer due to a clash of two companies. This can happen sometimes due to the placement being a running placement. Otherwise, it is mostly 1:1. The highest CTC is in the region of INR 30 LPA. All the students are get placed eventually unless and until you have done some grave mistake or have very low grades that companies are unwilling to give you a chance despite the placement committee's best efforts.

Fees and Financial Aid

The cost of the study is a little steep but that is across all the IIMs and other MBA colleges. So it should be reasonable. What is not reasonable is the fee taken from us when we were studying online and still computer charges, hostel rent fee and other seats of the fee were taken from us as well. It is understandable that there are fixed costs to the college. But the college administration should also think from the student's perspective as well and any reduction will help a student considering that most of them have taken heavy loans. Scholarships are from the government and none are college sponsored. So you won't get any financial assistance from the college. The internship and final placement you will get from the college are dependent on the current market conditions. So you cannot predict the exact amounts. However, it is good for a tier-2 college and you should keep your expectations in check.

Campus Life

3.5

There are two main events; AGON and RUSH. AGON is the management event and is usually held in October while RUSH happens around January. However, due to COVID-19 related restrictions both the events are currently happening simultaneously in and around February virtually. The library and the classroom are good and have the necessary facilities in place. Again due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the classes and the library facilities have been completed online. Apart from the sports fest, there is an indoor sports facility in the hostel premise for badminton, swimming, gym, table tennis. Outside also you can play cricket and football but not competitive. Only amateur stuff of play. There are a number of social clubs and groups on the campus which you can be a part of if you would like. The temporary campus which has the hostels are in a residential complex so you may not feel the vibe of an actual hostel if you have already experienced them during your graduation days.

Hostel Facilities

4

The rooms are located in a housing society in Khelgaon temporarily and I don't see any near future when they will shift. The facilities though are decent to good. The rooms are spacious enough and are single beds. Everyone who is a student gets a hostel so no need for registration and other stuff. As far as the meal is concerned, it is at best decent. Not bad not too good either. A little expensive I can say. But then these are the kind of rates you will get in other management colleges as well. The hostel is located on the city outskirts and there are not many places nearby where you can rent a house. So no chance of thinking on that lines. Of course, a little less rate would have been nice.

Interview Experience

4

The process consisted of a WAT or Writing Ability Test and a PI. In WAT you would be given to write on a topic within 15-20 minutes. The topics can be current affairs, social issues, or something thought-provoking and a little abstract. You need to be well informed of current happenings to relate the topic with your world to create an impact. The PI round is also stress-free. But you need to be careful and knowledgeable with everything you have written on your CV as well as have a sound knowledge of the current affairs, GK and other stuff. In terms of preparation, you can always take 2-3 mock PIs with some coaching institute and they will give you a review for you. In my case, I didn't go for any coaching.

Placement Experience:

Being one of India's oldest and premier B-schools, placements at XLRI are top-notch and rival that of IIM-ABC. The average median placement figure stood at Rs. 30 lahks for the batch 2020-22. A total of 99 companies visited the campus and 437 domestic offers were made. The highest placement was Rs.60 lakh. The placement rate for the batch was 100%. Firms like BCG, Bain, McKinsey, Amazon, ITC, ABG, etc. picked up students for various roles such as Associate Director, front-end IB, CoS, etc.. Preparation for summer placements begins as soon as one enters college. Students are made to prepare their CVs rigorously. For the summers, the average and highest placement stood at Rs. 1.54 and Rs. 3.5 lakh per month respectively.

Remarks:

The college is very economical. The return on investment is great. Faculty support is also good. The infrastructure is limited which is compensated by the college being at a central location Aka heart of the city. The lalpur area is nearby where people come to try out the eateries and shop a little. Neuclus mall is just nearby which is the largest mall of Ranchi and a hotspot for hanging out of the young generation.

Our MBA program was one of the finest ventures of our institute which triggered the blending of different cultures. Our college believes in the celebration of life and almost all the festivals are celebrated with utmost joy. My personal favorite was the farewell party.
