I had taken Common Management Admission Test(CMAT)-2021 which was held in the month of Mar 2021. CMAT is an exam which is conducted National Testing Agency(NTA). The details of the exam such as important dates, registration deadlines are provided on the official website cmat.nta.nic.in The eligibility criteria for CMAT is any student who has completed graduation in any stream or is currently in the final year of graduation is eligible to apply. The application process included filling out the application form of the K J Somaiya Institute of Management, Mumbai which is released on its official website. Then after the CMAT results were declared we had to enter the marks scored in the entrance exam by editing the application form. The cut-off will be decided by the college which in our case was 97 percentile through CMAT. After the shortlisted candidate's list is released, I had to go through an interview round followed by a case analysis and presentation round(CAPI).

I chose this course since this course provides holistic development across all domains such as Marketing, HR, Finance, Operations, etc in the first year. Also in the second year, we have to select a specialization domain which we are interested in thereby enhancing our experience in that domain. Faculty Student ratio: 1:13. The faculty at K J Somaiya Institute of Management, Mumbai are have rich experience in their domain and area of specialization. The faculties are extremely helpful and are ready to help clarify the doubts of students round the clock. The faculties are highly qualified and the teaching method is extremely fascinating as it encourages students to ask doubts and get them clarified and thereby enhance the subject knowledge of the students. The Institute follows a trimester pattern. The exams are conducted on time and the college is very particular about academics. If a student has paid attention in all the sessions and followed the faculties it will suffice.

The college provides summer internship opportunities for the students as well. For the batch 2021-23 the summer placement process is going on smoothly and almost 80% of the batch has already been placed for summers. The highest stipend is Rs 90,000 per month and the average stipend is Rs 21,342 per month. 113 companies visited for summer placements so far and 31 new recruiters hired for summer placements. Sectors like Banking, IT and Financial services are at the forefront of hiring.

The students are eligible for summer placements from the first trimester itself and for the final placements they are eligible to apply from the second year. 175 companies visited the campus for final placements for batch 2022 and 40 new recruiters were added to the pool for final placements. The highest salary offered is Rs 26.50 lacs p.a. and the average salary offered is Rs 10.85 lacs p.a. For the batch 2020-22, 97% of the students have been already placed for finals.

The fee hike policy is observed across all the institutes but K J Somaiya provides scholarship and financial aid to students who are not able to afford the fees due to certain reasons. The institute also provides final placement opportunities across various companies.

The Institute conducts an annual cultural fest every year in the name of "Melange" which is a flagship event and students across various sections participate and make it a big event across Mumbai. The institute also conducts "All is well" which is a kind of ice-breaker and helps relieve the stress among the students and also enjoy college life at the same time. The institute has a library facility consisting of 91000 plus books, 30000 plus titles, 8000 plus e-journals, 60 plus print journals, 10 plus magazines, and 15 plus newspapers. The classroom is equipped with all the necessary facilities. Institute has a huge campus that provides a variety of sports facilities like running track, live chess court, football ground, cricket ground, badminton court, basketball, volleyball, tennis court, table tennis and squash court, etc. There are various student driven committees at K J Somaiya Institute of Management, Mumbai.

The admission criteria were to qualify any of the mentioned entrance exams such as CAT, XAT, CMAT, NMAT & GMAT. After qualifying for the mentioned exams, the institutes shortlists the candidates for further interview and case analysis and presentation round. The interview is conducted by panels from the college and also is followed by a case analysis round wherein we will be given a case and some time to go through the same. We have to analyze the same and provide solutions to the questions asked. The panellists will further ask some questions and seek our opinion about the same. I had gone through one mock interview round before appearing for the interview on the d-day. Also for the case analysis round, I had read a few cases and practised a lot for the same.
