My college experience

The selection criterion includes cut-off cleared scores of CAT/ XAT/ CMAT/ NMAT/ GMAT, a GD-PI round, past academic records and work experience if any. For CAT and XAT, the cut-off is usually 80-85%ile; for GMAT, the cut-off is 550-600 and for CMAT it is 85-90%ile. The group discussion is case-based. Outstanding achievements has 8% of weightage in the election process. The pros of the institute include its infrastructure, inclusive classrooms, case-based pedagogy and rich alumni base. I referred to many online forums, however found several views from the very alumni of the college on collegedunia very objective and clearly directed.

The exams are held on basis of trimesters. Summer internships are of 8-10 weeks in duration and start from the end of the third term. The student-faculty ratio is 21:1. The faculty includes a rich group of academicians, researchers, industry experts and consultants. The overall CGPA is determined by exam scores- midterm and end-term, projects, assignments and quizzes.

140 recruiters participate in the summer placement process. Students are eligible to sit from SIPs from term 2 itself. 100% of students get paid SIPs. The highest stipend offered is Rs.1.4 lakhs per month and the average stipend offered is Rs. 13,990 per month. The key recruiters are ShareKhan, VLCC, ITC, Asian Paints, Canon, Blue star etc.

The average package offered is around Rs 11 lakhs. The highest package offered is Rs 27.78 lakhs. The key recruiters are GEP, Asian Paints, Aditya Birla, Foodpanda, Blackrock, FedEx, DELL, DCB Bank, ITC, VLCC etc. 99% of students get placed.

The fees are around Rs 17 lakhs. The fees are subject to any and are completely within the decision boundaries of the management board. There are much need-based, special interest-based, merit-based SIMR scholarships available to students however, the candidate for the same must produce required documents and fulfil the required criteria. Research fellowships can also be availed. Students can apply for the loan on the Vidylakshmi portal. The range of banks offers loans with an interest rate ranging from 7.10 to 12%. 100% of students obtain paid summer internships.

The annual fests and events held at the institute include SPRIHA, STATINOVA, NOSTALGIA, NATIONAL RETAIL SUMMIT and SAMAVESH. Other enthralling fests include Confluence, Mlange-a cultural event, HR meet, Pangea, Kurukshetra etc. The classrooms are strongly cushioned by hi-tech services. Students have access to the library, e-resources, case studies and various statistical databases. Students clubs are 9 in number, to name a few- Retail Club, Toastmaster Club, Mauj Club, Gita Club etc.

There was a group discussion and an interview round. The GD holds 17% weightage and the PI holds 25% weightage in the selection process. My GD topic was 'Tobacco Ban in India'. The GD was of 12 minutes duration and each candidate post the discussion was asked to pitch in their opinions in 30 seconds. The PI consisted of 2 panellists. The questions were very general- Why MBA? my opinion on reservations and quotas, my hobbies, strengths and weaknesses.
