Ans. No, direct admission is not possible in NIBM Pune. Ques. What are the realistic chances for call and conversion for a profile of 7/7/7, GNEM and no work ex at 85 percentile in XAT ?
Ans. The chances of getting an interview call at this profile is very low. Here is the reason why - NIBM Pune (like many other MBA colleges) doesn't care about if you are from engineering background or not. So no extra marks here. 7/7/7 in academics is typically not an excellent profile relative to other MBA applicants, and moreover looking at the past trends of Cutoffs, anything below 90 percentile in XAT will have very less chances of getting the interview call.
Ques. Which one should be preferred ? IIM Amritsar or NIBM Pune ?
Ans. It depends entirely on what you want to do after MBA. If you are more interested in finance and banking then NIBM Pune should be preferred over IIM Amritsar as NIBM is a dedicated college for BFSI. The opportunities and exposure you get in NIBM for finance will be more than what you get in IIM Amritsar. However, if you are not sure of the specialization and want to keep your options open then prefer IIM Amritsar as it will give you a lot of diversity in your choices.
Ques. Is there any reservation for Maharashtra domicile candidates? Will it be a disadvantage for someone from Delhi ?
Ans. No, there is no reservation from MH Domicile candidates. Such reservations do not exist in NIBM. Being from Delhi will not have any disadvantages during or after the selection process.

Ques. What is the overall expenditure (including fees) for the 2 years of MBA at NIBM Pune ?
Ans. The fees including hostels and other charges is around 17 Lacs for the two years. Add to it Rs 1.2 lacs for the mess charges and around 3-4K for Wi-fi. So the overall mandatory expense will be around 18.2 Lacs. Apart from that, whatever you spend depends on your lifestyle and personal habits. If you are someone who likes to party a lot or spend a lot then there is no limit, but usually people manage in less than 10k per month apart from the fixed expenses.
Ques. Are the students supposed to pay the fees all at once ?
Ans. No, you don't need to pay the entire fees at once. The fees are to be paid in 6 installments over a period of 2 years. (3 installments per year). The first installment of around 3.4 Lacs is to be paid within two weeks of the admission offer to confirm the admission. If the fees are not paid on time the admission will not be confirmed and the seat will be given to the next candidate in the waiting list.
Ques. Are there any scholarships for the students ? How to get it ?
Ans. NIBM Pune offers a merit-cum-means-based scholarship to its MBA students, providing scholarships of Rs. 1,50,000 per year to a maximum of 8 students. Selection is based on an interview conducted by a committee. A few students also benefit from the CFA University Affiliation program, receiving a waiver of USD 750 on the CFA program enrollment fee and a reduced exam fee of approximately 350 USD.

Ans. The expected cutoff for CAT in 2026 is around 91 - 93 percentile. The cutoff depends on how many students are applying for the course. Looking at previous year trends it is unlikely for the cutoff to drop much since the number of applicants has increased every year.
Ques. Will other exams be considered if someone falls short in the cutoff of any exam ?
Ans. Yes. NIBM Pune gives you the option to apply through multiple exams. If you fail to clear the cutoff for any exam (CAT for example) and you have cleared the cutoff for other exams (XAT or CMAT for example) then the scores of those exams will be considered. Ques. Do people with work experience of more than 3 years face any difficulties during the placement ?
Ans. People with high work experience might face some issues while admission during the PI (Since the batch is heavily dominated by freshers). If someone is not from a Finance background it will be difficult to justify the change of domain (since after NIBM its very likely that majority of the students will work in Finance). However once you are in college, high work experience will not matter much. Majority of the companies do not have any restriction on years of experience.
Ques. What is a realistic package one can expect from NIBM ?
Ans. Usually the majority of the packages are in the range of 12 to 16 Lacs per annum. The median CTC for the batch of 2025 was Rs 15 Lacs. So even if you are just performing better than 50% of the batch, there are chances that you will end up with a CTC of 15 lacs and more. The average of the top 10% is above 20 LPA. For top performers getting a package of more than 20 Lacs is very much possible.
Ques. Will engineers with little or no finance knowledge have any disadvantage during the final placement ?
Ans. Not really ! Infact Finance companies love engineers since finance involves a lot of quantitative and analytical work - something where engineers have a natural advantage. Moreover, companies know that you have spent 2 years in MBA studying finance, so knowledge wise what you knew before MBA will not matter much.
Ques. What kind of roles are offered in the final placement ? What do the majority of the students get ?
Ans. Almost all the roles are for the finance domain. The majority of the roles are Risk roles (which involves Credit Risk, Market risk, operations risk etc). Investment Banking roles are limited to a very few people. Other students get roles in Treasury, Compliance, Audit, Consulting and Financial Analysis.
Ques. Is 100% placement true or is it an inflated number ?
Ans. NIBM has a relatively low batch size (Just 131 people graduating in 2025). It is easier to place a small batch as compared to larger batches like NMIMS and IMT. The college claims 100% placement in its placement report. The reviews received by students on Collegedunia also suggest that in reality, 100% placement takes place.

Ques. How is the attendance policy? Is NIBM strict regarding its attendance rules?
Ans. There is a mandatory 75% attendance that needs to be maintained. Failure to do so will result in academic penalties which can be a downgrade in the grades or marks. Multiple violations can lead to more severe consequences. It is advised to maintain at least 75% attendance in all the classes. The college is quite serious with its attendance rules.
Ques. Is it allowed to stay outside or is it mandatory to stay in the hostel?
Ans. It is mandatory to stay in the hostel at NIBM Pune. It is a fully residential program. The college has sufficient hostels to accommodate every student.
Ques. How is campus life in general ? Any restrictions?
Ans. The overall campus life is decent. There are basic restrictions which are fine considering it is a college after all ! The hostel closes at 11 PM so if you are outside you need to come back to the campus by that time. The relationship between seniors and juniors is quite friendly. There are plenty of clubs and committees to keep you busy with activities. There are no major restrictions as such.

Ans. There is no fixed or mandatory dress code for attending regular classes. The majority of the students attend classes in casual dress. However, if there are presentations, seminars, guest lectures, Interviews or any official activity the students are supposed to be in business formals.

Ans. Girls hostel have mostly single occupancy rooms while for a majority of boys the rooms are double occupancy. There are a couple of boys rooms which are single occupancy but the allotment of rooms is random and purely based on luck.

If you are not getting (or you think you haven't prepared enough for it) older and new IIMs, top Symbiosis colleges, NMIMS and other top 30-40 colleges, then NIBM is a good backup option (assuming you don't want to drop another year for CAT).
What you must be very sure of is that you are not going to get traditional MBA roles in anything other than Finance from NIBM. So this one decision will decide the first few jobs of your life. If you are interested in Finance and you think 17-18 LPA is a decent starting salary, go for NIBM Pune.
