Ques. What is the overall expenditure (including fees) for the 2 years of MBA at NIBM Pune?
Ans. The fees, including hostels and other charges, are around 20 Lakhs for the two years. Add to it INR 1.2 lakhs for the mess charges and around 3-4K for Wi-fi. So the overall mandatory expense will be around 18.2 Lakhs. Apart from that, whatever you spend depends on your lifestyle and personal habits. If you are someone who likes to party a lot or spend a lot, then there is no limit, but usually people manage in less than 10k per month apart from the fixed expenses.
Ques. Are the students supposed to pay the fees all at once?
Ans. No, you don't need to pay the entire fee at once. The fees are to be paid in 6 installments over a period of 2 years. (3 installments per year). The first installment of around 3.4 Lakhs is to be paid within two weeks of the admission offer to confirm the admission. If the fees are not paid on time, the admission will not be confirmed, and the seat will be given to the next candidate on the waiting list.
Ques. Are there any scholarships for the students? How to get it?
Ans. NIBM Pune offers a merit-cum-means-based scholarship to its MBA students, providing scholarships of INR 1,50,000 per year to a maximum of 8 students. Selection is based on an interview conducted by a committee. A few students also benefit from the CFA University Affiliation program, receiving a waiver of USD 750 on the CFA program enrollment fee and a reduced exam fee of approximately 350 USD.

Ans. It depends entirely on what you want to do after an MBA. The opportunities and exposure you get in NIBM for finance will be more than what you get in IIM Amritsar. However, if you are not sure of the specialization and want to keep your options open, then prefer IIM Amritsar as it will give you a lot of diversity in your choices.

Ans. No, there is no reservation from MH Domicile candidates. Such reservations do not exist in NIBM. Being from Delhi will not have any disadvantages during or after the selection process.

Ques. Will NIBM Pune lower its CAT cutoff in 2026?
Ans. The expected cutoff for CAT in 2026 is around 91 - 93 percentile. The cutoff depends on how many students are applying for the course. Looking at previous year trends, it is unlikely for the cutoff to drop much since the number of applicants has increased every year.
Ques. Will other exams be considered if someone falls short of the cutoff of any exam?
Ans. No, NIBM Pune used to give the option to apply through multiple exams. But now, it only accepts CAT and GMAT scores for admission to the MBA program. If you fail to clear the cutoff for any exam (CAT, for example) and you have cleared the cutoff for other exams like GMAT, then the scores of those exams will be considered. The only condition is that you need to apply through those exams as well.

Ques. Do people with work experience of more than 3 years face any difficulties during the placement?
Ans. People with high work experience might face some issues while admission during the PI (Since the batch is heavily dominated by freshers). If someone is not from a Finance background, it will be difficult to justify the change of domain (since after NIBM, it's very likely that the majority of the students will work in Finance). However, once you are in college, high work experience will not matter much. The majority of the companies do not have any restrictions on the years of experience.
Ques. What is a realistic package one can expect from NIBM?
Ans. Usually, the majority of the packages are in the range of 12 to 16 Lakhs per annum. The median CTC for the batch of 2025 was INR 15 Lakhs. So even if you are just performing better than 50% of the batch, there are chances that you will end up with a CTC of 15 Lakhs and more. The average of the top 10% is above 20 LPA. For top performers, getting a package of more than 20 Lakhs is very much possible.
Ques. Will engineers with little or no finance knowledge have any disadvantage during the final placement?
Ans. Not really! In fact, finance companies love engineers since finance involves a lot of quantitative and analytical work - something where engineers have a natural advantage. Moreover, companies know that you have spent 2 years in an MBA studying finance, so knowledge-wise wise what you knew before the MBA will not matter much.

Ans. Almost all the roles are for the finance domain. The majority of the roles are Risk roles (which involve Credit Risk, Market risk, operations risk, etc). Investment Banking roles are limited to a very few people. Other students get roles in Treasury, Compliance, Audit, Consulting, and Financial Analysis.
