Remarks
I opted for IIT Palakkad because the cut off list of old IITs are very high and IIT Palakkad is a new IIT where I can get in and the institute is under the guidance of IIT Madras which is very popular for its research work and curriculum. For admission to IIT Palakkad candidates must clear the GATE exam and then should register for COAP for the counselling process. COAP provides a common platform for students to make the most preferred choices for admission M.Tech program.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum of IITs are of the highest standards you cannot doubt the curriculum IIT Palakkad is also one of them. The labs of the college are equipped with modern instruments. The curriculum is a blend of theoretical and practical knowledge. First, you can gain theoretical knowledge and then perform experiments based on its lab course.
Internships Opportunities
The internship is also part of the curriculum. The college placement cell helps you out to identify the companies for the internship program. the stipend also varies from company to company which usually range from Rs 27000/- to Rs 85000/- depending on the period of internship. I also got an internship in UST Global for 5 weeks where I received the stipend of Rs 38000/-.
Placement Experience
IIT Palakkad is a new member in IIT and the placement record of the college are similar to all IIT you won't feel disappointed at all. the placement cell is able to attract good companies for placement. The college is able to achieve a 100% placement record. Companies like Google, Arista Network, TCS Research, McKinsey, Honeywell, Texas Instruments, Microsoft take part in the requirement process. The highest package for our batch went up to 26 LPA and the average salary package was around 15 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid

Campus Life
The campus life of IIT Palakkad is fun to stay without a doubt. The annual tech fest named Petrichor is organized by the college every month of January. The classrooms are big and available with a centralized cooling system. The labs are designed for every department with all modern equipment. There are students run clubs for research and cultural club-like Robotics Club, Data Analysis Club, Drama Club, Dance Club, etc.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel rooms are available on sharing basis where 2 or 3 students share the room. The rooms are equipped with almirah for each student, bed and study table. The plus point is the bathrooms are attached to the room. The hostel rooms are also available with LAN connection and high-speed WiFi connectivity is also available. The hostel is clean and well maintained. The food of the mess is good and balanced.
Faculty
The faculty of the college is very experienced and every faculty have their own unique way of teaching. IIT Palakkad is mentored by IIT Madras so the guest faculty from IIT Madras also visit the college for guest lectures. The faculty design assignments for students according to the topics and schedule a tutorial class to discuss the assignment.
