Remarks

Good weather, peaceful campus, one of the oldest NITs, the faculty is great, good placements. I wanted to do engineering in a core branch and I was attracted to chemical engineering due to the nature of the work done by chemical engineers. I love pumps, reactors, fluid mechanics and thermodynamics. This course helped me to get the required knowledge and skills to start a career as a chemical engineer.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is reviewed and updated every 3-4 years. The college has a training and placement department which helps in providing industrial trainings and placements. However, they do push the students to get connected with the alumni for the same as well. So, it is a coordinated effort of both the students and the department. There are many seminars, alumni meet, workshops, etc that keep happening in the campus through out the year. Regarding chemical engineering department, Dr Faisal is a name to reckon. He is a prodigy in the field so to say. Besides, Dr Tanveer is an amazing person who will help you transform yourself both academically as well as personally.

Placement Experience

In IT, CS, ECE, there are good opportunities. You may find it a little difficult to find a good job if you are in core branches. Although electrical and mechanical still get some good job offers than other core branches.

College Events

Campus life is calm and peaceful. Srinagar has the best weather. The people are friendly. But it is a Conservative culture there. No clubs, no pubs. All the events are conducted within the campus only. And there a number of events that keep happening almost every week. Techvaganza is the annual tech fest conducted every year. The freshers party for the new batch and the farewell party for the leaving batch are a regular. There are many student chapters of various engineering societies that hold workshops, quizzes and seminars regularly. There are many clubs including the debate club, gaming club, extempore club, etc and they keep conducting a host of activities.

Placement Experience:

Marshal the placement resources so well that our college has close to 90% placement records. Siemens, ABB and such companies where ECE engineers can contribute are the companies that hires us and the average for our ECE branch is 6 lakhs or so.

Overall a good University with below average placements.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for placemnt after third year. total 8 companies from local Food and beverage companies and agriculture related companie came for campus placements. Most of the student didnt take offers from the companies because none of the companies were offering more than 15k to 18k per month I also didnt take the placement offer for the same reason and now i am thinking for further studies from somewhere that have good placements Out of 23 students who were eligible for placements only 3 accepted the offer.

Is Nit Srinagar worth it?

Placement Experience:

Yes my college offers placements for each branch students becomes eligible after sixth semester if they doent have any active supply in there course and very company have their own criteria to make eligble to the student for placements like cgpa etc. companies visited in civil was L&T, Tata steel, Jsw, Afcon etc and the average package was 6 lakh every company brought diffrent no. of offers average was 5 in civil highest package got to mine class crc of 1300000 that was a psu and the percentage of students got placed was 10% only. mine plans after was to prepare for goverments exams.

Is Nit Srinagar worth it?

I got this college on the basis of councellign held after jee main result before this i got Natinal institue of technology Megalya i left that beacuse of non permanent hostel facility and bad reviews from the seniors and the distance from mine hoemtown sikar(Rajasthan) even many good engineerig colleges was there in mine list but because of mine less marks in jee main and advance i am unable to get them (example : nit silchar, nit Wrangle, nit Trichy etc) but over all mine college was good according to Enviroment conditions and other parameters and the admission process was very smooth just you have to verify your documents ....Read More

As we all know that the B.Tech course is of four years and divided into eight semesters. It is offereed across 8 different specialisations including /cse, /ee, ECE, MEC, META, CIVIL, IT /cHE . The course admission is done on the basis of candidate's performance in JEE Main followed by JOSSA counselling/CSAB counselling. The allotment is donw on the basis of merit score in Je/e Main. The Eligibility Criteria is that the candiddate must qualify JEE Main and score above 75% marks in 12th. A score of 96 - 97 p;ercentile is enough for an OB/C or General student and 93% -90 perccentile for SC / ST students.
