Remarks

Theres a reason they need so much advertising for their college to gain popularity although its not as bad as people mock it nowadays only go there if you literally have not other option.

Entrance Preview

LPU never misses a moment to show their professionalism and sometime heights of it, so I just remember LPU as an excellent super mall. When I took the admission in LPU, B.Tech Courses were open for direct admission but with a slab of minimum percentage of 50% for General B.Tech and 70% for B.Tech Hons. I opted for B.Tech (Hons.) Biotechnology because my admission counsellor had assured me that Hons courses will have more Laboratory work, Best Faculty, Best Facilities and Highest Faculty Student Ratio. After the completion of my course, I can say that LPU has delivered almost 80% of whatever they had committed. I choose LPU because there was no other college in North India which was offering B.Tech Biotechnology course for PCB students. But it is compulsary for PCB students to study mathematics in first year. As I have also worked as admission counsellor for LPU, I would suggest students to visit campus for admissions rather than visiting satellite admission centers.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

As I was in B.Tech Hons the faculties deployed for the us were just awesome, most of them were Ph.D. + IITians. But I LPU curriculum specially for biotechnology was archaic and lacked innovation. For Ex. Lab Work included Light Microscopy experiments and that too just on plant cells. Latest technologies like microtomy or HPLC were absent from both the labs and course. The major issue I faced that their is no culture of developing entrepreneurial skills. Most of the student just have only one target get maximum GPA.

Internships Opportunities

College has no on-campus internship options but offers earn while learn (EWL) program under the EWL program student can work for the university under any department for a fixed salary LPU has six month internship option in final year but the assessment of projects is very harsh and generally students opting for off-campus six month internship end up getting lower marks.

Placement Experience

1.5

LPU doesn't provide too many options for placement to biotechnology student but it is the country wise phenomena so I cannot blame them total six companies visited the campus for biotechnology students including B.tech General, B.Tech Hons. and B.Sc. Innova Life Systems, Biocon, Spirex Pharma, IDS Infotech, Wahid Sandhar Sugar Mills and Panacea Biotech i religiously sat for every company because there was no limit and ended with having three offers in hand.

College Events

2.5

I do not remember as they keep changing every year but LPU is generally visited by Celebrities for promotional activities and rock concerts are quite normal at the campus the number of participants in the events depends upon the scale at which management is supporting that event the biotechnology department never managed to organize an event with more than 200 foot fall in 22000 students campus.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure for Hons. Program is very expensive and kept increasing by the rate of 10% till second year. I paid almost 74000 per semester just for tuition fees. LPU hostel has the capacity to accomodate 15000 students on campus. I took four seater room and it was big and in good condition. People can also opt for AC rooms and Studio Apartments. The hostel mess was in a complete mess, it was better to have langar in a gurdwara just outside the campus. Very Poor Hygiene, it seemed that the university management was trying to create business for food kiosks (very high in number) by delivering unbearable food in mess.No alcohols or smoke or tobacco allowed within the campus and if you are caught with one you are most likely to get expelled or at least suspended.

Fees and Financial Aid

Sports scolarship is a good scholarship option for the students i availed 15% concession in hostel fees as I had the national certificate in boxing the amoung can also go higher if someone has better achievments but it is hard to retain the scholarship because balance between sports and studies is hard to maintain specially in biotechnology i know people who have availed financial assistance with special request to the executive dean.

Campus Life

2

Campus is so happening that everyday is like a new day and I mean my words LPU hosts many inter university events so for every stream there was an event and multicultural nature of the campus added lots of fun factor into it getting into clubs is hard due to high number of applications and it is almost like a small job interview i was able to get into the official university magazine Lovely World, and it was a great experience but mainly due to the mentors and colleagues.

Alumni/Alumna

There is an alumni network but I am not part of it i know some seniors who are very helpful and we generally organize unofficial get togethers but the university has no process to keep alumnis connected almost 6000 students graduate from LPU every year so only personal engagements are feasible.

Placement Experience:

Students start becoming eligible for campus placements from the sixth semester, and that’s when most training sessions for aptitude, coding and soft skills also begin. The placement cell is active throughout the year and brings in a mix of product-based, service-based and mid-tier tech companies. The number of offers varies every year, but CSE-related branches usually get the highest share of opportunities. Companies come for roles like software trainee, analyst, QA, support engineering and web development, so there’s a good spread of entry-level roles.

The placement of our college is good but its lack to bring big names but overall it's 3 out of 5 as it's basically focus on bringing software companies but our stream is of electronics so we donot have that much knowledge about coding so we lack to get placed this is the only disadvantage of the placement cell here

In 3rd semester a student is eligible for campus placement but it is all upto to students that they have to maintain a good cgpa and skills for interviews. In Chitkara university a good number of companies visited like Microsoft, google and they provide 100+ offerletters. 85-90 % students get placed in Chitkara university. After getting degree I firstly join to the company .

There is an option for students to opt for placements from campus in our university and if we seect that option we are given special training by the university it self in fields which we think we are weak. That include technical and non technical fields like soft skills. University also ties up with other triaining companis to train us in better way by calling tutors from outside the campus for teaching us. Over all if we consider we are already well trained by university to sit for on campus placements and we usually get a good paying job which also helps us to gain more knowledge and improve ourself.
