Symbiosis Skills and Professional University Review

I was given a telephonic call from the college regarding the programs available at the college (SSPU) and told me about the admission process. A video conference-based interview of mine was taken by one of the professors from the college asking basic questions about computers, my interests, and why I chose this course, only after clearing this interview could I get admission to the university. After I was selected, I was supposed to visit the college for a campus tour and for fees payment. After this, my admission process was completed. The only requirements for admission are 60% in 12th Boards with atleast 50% in PCM. Diploma students are also accepted here from Second Year itself.

The main reason I chose this course is that it included cybersecurity as the specialization. Since we all know that security has many times been neglected by many which have in turn cost them heavily. Hence, cybersecurity is the need of the hour. Currently, we are total of 75 students while we have only 4 faculty teachers out of which 3 are for technical subjects Only 1 faculty member has a good experience while the rest are pursuing their phd's with overall (8-10 years of teaching experience). Overall the faculty isn't quite impressive if we look at the fees and the standards set at the time of admission, by the college. Management is extremely weak due to which the students have suffered a lot. The teaching method implemented is quite straight, professors teach with the help of PowerPoint presentations on a projector, and after which we are assigned practicals and skills based on the teachings. Unit tests and End-Semester exams are conducted according to the given schedule and are moderate

After the 1st semester, we were placed for internships by the placement cell itself. While only the first few were assigned to course-related internships the rest were assigned internships only for the sake of doing it. Many were assigned with digital marketing (including myself), poster making, social media account handling, sales, which were not our course-related nor related to our courses.

I am currently in 2nd year and we are the first batch of computer science with cybersecurity due to which we have no seniors to whom we can refer for our placements and stuff. Neither has the college disclosed the companies that will be visiting the campus for placement purposes.

For our program, the fee is 2.7 Lakh rupees per year. This is divided into 2 installments, 1.4+1.3 Lakhs. The college is a bit flexible with the installments and allow more smaller installments. No scholarships,financial assitance are provided by the college. There is a placement cell which is responsible for placing students for internships as well as final campus selection drives.

There is a decent library holding books from a wide variety of courses. No tech/ annual fests have been hosted until now. Nothing special about the classrooms, equipped with a projector for the faculty to use. Post lunch on Saturdays, we have clubs. Clubs include, sports, cultural, music while the rest are to be decieded. Throughout the week there is no separate time spared for sports as such, students have access to the turf(small 5v5 only) at all times.Post lunch on saturdays there are no lectures, that being the only time for such activities. There isn't a large ground for football or cricket on the campus.
