Lush green campus with highest ever NIT package

In 2020 admissions, cutoff rank for students from outside Himachal Pradesh for admission in BTech CSE at NIT Hamirpur was 9617 (OPEN), 3537(OBC-NCL), 2377 (SC), 892 (ST). No restrictions on age. It is done online via JoSAA and/or CSAB ONLY. After counseling on JoSAA/CSAB, if a seat is allotted, the student needs to upload various documents like 12th marksheet, JEEMains scorecard, etc. After confirming a seat on JoSAA/CSAB, the student needs to go to the college's website for further admission procedures.

I chose this course because CSE is the future. With the advent of modern tech industries, there is huge demand for software developers. Faculty: Student ratio = 1:125 Faculties are mostly Ph.D. scholars and are highly skilled at their work Practicals, labs are being conducted timely. Teaching methods include Lecture, Theory, Practical. Each semester is of 6 months in which there is mid semester exam at the end of 3 months and end semester exam at the end of 6 months. So, in conclusion, there are exams held every 3 months. Mid-semester exams(30% weightage) are written and are not so difficult. Anyone with 14 days prior to learning can score good marks. End semester exams should be taken seriously as there are Practicals/Lab work/viva voce too (20% weightage) along with written exams (50% weightage).

Internships offered by companies are generally of the domain: Front-end Development, SDE, Back-end development, Machine learning. Projects: 3-4 good projects in web development and/or maintaining a good competitive programming profile on codechef/codeforces

From 3rd year students become eligible for placements. Companies like Goldman Sachs, Paytm, Flipkart, etc visited the campus. In my branch CSE, 100% placement is sure every year and no. of offers to CSE is approximately 1.5 times the no. of students. Highest package of 2021: 1.59 crore per annum(Bloomberg, New York) from the CSE branch. It is the highest ever package given to any student in any NIT. Average package: 9 lakhs per annum. 100% of students from CSE get placed. My plans after getting the degree are to grab a good placement and/or launch a startup.

There may/may not be a fee hike every year and if at all there is, it is not very drastic.The fee is dependent on the financial status of the candidate and/or SC/ST basis. There are three slabs: 1. Students of any category with annual family income below 1 lakh + all SC/ST students 2. Students having annual family income between 1 to 5 lakhs 3. Students having annual family income above 5 lakhs. Along with these remissions, students may apply for various scholarships by GOI available on scholarships.gov.in There are many state/centre-funded scholarships.

Tech fest: NIMBUS (February) Cultural fest: HILL'FAIR (October) There are thousands of books and journals available in the central library of the institute. The classrooms are very well maintained and have good lighting and aeration. There is a digital board too. Sports and extracurricular activities happen around the year. In this 360 acre campus, there is plenty of playgrounds and a student activity center too where there is gymnasium, indoor games' court, yoga center, and many facilities packed in one big building. There are many clubs like GDSC, ISTE, SPEC, E-cell, etc and many social groups too which are either fully run by students or are partially run by students and partially by administration.

Hostel rooms have generally 1 to 4 students occupancy. 1st and 2nd-year students get 3 or 4 occupancy rooms 3rd year gets 3 occupancy rooms 4th year gets single or double occupancy rooms Every year's students' hostels are different. Each hostel has its own mess which overall has good hygiene and gives us decent quality of food. Menu are different on different days of the week. Hostel fees (including mess charges) are approx 30000 per semester which translates to 60k/year
