Sadashiv's Review On BLDEA's V.P. Dr.P.G.Halakatti College Of Engineering & Technology, Bijapur

I took up Karnatak CET Examination and obtained a decent ranking. You can even take up the COMED-K exams to get into this institute.

The college is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Belagavi. I personally feel that the syllabus is quite out dated but you can hope for the syllabus revision from the VTU as this particular topic is being discussed alot lately.

Although during my time the students themselves had to find the internships during the semester break, but it is changing now. I came to know that students from the 3rd year were encouraged to take up the internships and the college is being supportive about the same.

The college has good placement officer Mr Nagaral. But the placements ultimately depend upon on the Student's interest and dedication. The college is being visited by Tech Mahindra Ltd, CTS, Mindtree every year along with the other companies. The package is usually 3-4 lpa.

Not many cultural events are conducted in the college apart from 2 events in an year. May be thats an area where our college needs an improvements. There are technical stuffs happening either at the college or at other college where you are being invited to participate.

The fee structure is decided by the KEA( Karnataka Examination Authority) and it does change everytime. But it is feasible. Although it is mentioned in the KEA website as not to pay anything to the college apart from the fees paid through KEA, the college officials will still collect Building funds and other donations.

The scholarships are being offered to students whose family income is below 3 lpa and you can find most banks who give the Student Loan. The college doesn't provide any loan facility but it does provide the scholarship from the State Government.

The gender ratio is almost 1:1(not taking into the consideration of Mechanical Branch). The college has nice football ground, basketball court and Tennis Court. The gym needs bit improvement. There are students clubs like Music Club, Literacy Club etc of which you can be a part of.

The hostel facilities are good but the mess food needs a tremendous improvement so as to let the students survive. In hostels the rooms are shared between 3 students. You can also find PGs in the nearby localities which are not very expensive.I would advice you not to opt the Hostel but you would miss the hostelmates.

As I have already mentioned that the college is affiliated to VTU, so it is moderate. Labs are being conducted weekly twice and there are not be chilled. However for the external exams, studying at the end of 1 month can fetch you decent marks and save you from embarrassments.

The admission was through KEA (Karnatak Examination Authority) which was well defined at all the steps. Everything will be notified in the KEA portal. The process would begin with verification of documents at the District level and then you need to report to the College that you have choosen for further document verification and for the final admission.
