Remarks

I choose NIT Rourkela because of its eminence in Higher learning. Admission to our institute will start around July and classes will start from August. Reason for choosing this college over others is because of the course I was looking for was provided by our institute. And learning something from an institute of National importance is very critical in case of career.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course I choose was Development studies, basically an inter disciplinary subject with lot of career options. 1:14 is our student faculty ratio. And we got NIRF ranking of 2 among all the NIT. All faculty members are very dedicated and hold a PhD.Exams are quite difficult. But if you put enough effort, it just a piece of cake.

Class Size: 25Course Fees: INR 150000 per year

Internships Opportunities

We can apply for various internships in NABARD, NHRC, MWCD etc. Stipend is upto 18000 a month

Placement Experience

From 3rd semester (2yr course) students will be called for placements(.Reliance foundation,ICICI foundation) Highest package around 5 L(not sure). Since I am yet to attend any I m not sure about placement

Fee Structure And Facilities

Around 150000, I didn't get any scholarship, but they provide for many. You have to take informations regarding the scholarship beforehand and apply for the same. I found the fee structure pretty reasonable.

Campus Life

The best thing I my life was the days I spent in NITR. Nice weather, cool winters, dreamy night life and Splendid infrastructure. N number of clubs are there. Starting from debate clubs to social service clubs

Hostel Facilities

For girls total 3 hostels are there, for boys more than 5 is there. Clean Hostel rooms and mess with a wide variety of food. Everybody is allowed single room. Inside the hostels department stores and cafe is available

Admission

In interview they may ask question from your background and Social science related questions. We have to take some mock interviews to prepare. They will test your aptitude

I had a choice for chemical engineering in NIT Calicut,kerala my home state but i was not interested in chemistry so I dropped that choice and preferred electrical engineering in NIT Rourkela because choosing this would be more related to core and computer field which also was the one I was interested in. So I choose these college over the others because of its relevant name and the hype of this college In India as It is Institute of national importance And also a government backed college and it is one of the most demanded college. So the colleges which I have applied to are DTU, NSUT, Nit Trichy, Nit Warangal, Nit Surat Kal And top 7 iits. No I was not rejected from the other college which I have applied to but the combination of branching and the college value Doesn't satisfied me for taking admission in that colleges. So the admission process for the Nit Rourkela Is that the eligibility criteria is 75% in 12th class And second criteria is to clear the entrance exam which is the JEE mains and also scoring a very good marks in it. Then by the centralised Josaa Counselling student will fill their choices ,lock and get allotments in the upcoming rounds of the josaa counselling. The ending rank to take admission in this college in the EC branch is about a 6000-7000 rank in the jee mains exam for the other state people.
