Remarks
JEE Mains marks are compulsory to get admission in Jamia Millia Islamia BTech course(Not for Management and NRI quota). Then you have to apply for admission on Jamia Millia Islamia's website. (Form starts around November) There are 5 branches in JMI Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Computer Science. One important point to remember is that you cant change your branch after the admission period in Jamia, if you get a chance to upgrade the branch during admission, go for it otherwise you will not get a chance again. Then there are some quotas in Jamia Millia Islamia like General, Muslim General, Muslim OBC, Kashmiri Migrants, etc. I applied for the Muslim OBC quota. Once your name will be on the list, you will get the date for document verification. That process is like any other college's document verification process.
Course Curriculum Overview
This part is self-explanatory because of the NIRF Ranking of JMI. Also all B.Tech. branches are NBA accredited here. The curriculum is based on the Gate syllabus. If you are preparing for the gate then that could help you. In the Electrical branch there are some strict teachers, be aware of them and study well for their papers.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are not so good here. If you are from the CS branch you can get an internship from college but for all other branches, you have to go for off campus internships. One internship is compulsory during BTech.
Placement Experience
Placements are not good for core branches but for IT jobs placements are much better. Most of the companies coming for placements are IT companies. I hot on campus placement in Cognizant for GenC. Some companies are EXL, COGNIZANT, TCS, WIPRO, IBM, DELHIVERY, OPTUM, etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees were not high in JMI. There is an annual fees system in Jamia. You submit fees in odd semesters(1,3,5,7). Annual fees are around 13k in the first year then around 10k in the second year then around 9k for the last two years. Apart from that if you opt for a hostel(i mean if you get a hostel luckily) then hostel fees are around 7k(first year) but 2k will be refunded. Mes fee is 4500 for 2 months.
Campus Life
There are some societies in which you can take memberships but don't go with premium ones I would suggest. Libraries are very good here, you can get almost every book here related to your subjects. There is a separate library for engineering students. Also, there are reading rooms where you can study. The engineering campus has separate reading rooms. There are many scientific and non scientific journals available in the central library. Also if you are interested in coding then join the Hashes group, it is free and there is good community support.
Hostel Facilities
Getting a hostel in JMI is very difficult because of limited seats. But if you get a hostel then go for it you would not regret it. Hostel life is better than PG life here because you get many facilities in hostels. There is a gym, canteens, reading rooms, common rooms, etc in the hostel. There are a total of 6 boys hostels(now 7) in Jamia across 2 campuses. The hostel campus is near to engineering campus. (Way is from gate no 4). Hostel fees areas I mentioned above around 7k for the first year and then 5k per year. And mess fees is around 4500 for 2 months. Mess food is good here. You get a non veg menu 5 times a week. Also, there is veg available with non veg. There are grounds in each hostel campus. One mosque is also there. The dispensary is near the hostel(just 5 mins walk). All online shopping delivery is available inside the hostel. Overall hostel life is satisfying there.
Other Applied Colleges
