Remarks
To get this college you have to score in Jexpo exam for 3 years Diploma program and voclet exam for 2 years Diploma after ITI and as per your last qualification you have to score minimum 45% in science. I have applied few more colleges but i choose it and Metaluurgy department becuase of its placement history and reputation also Howrah is better option for me than going to other areas. Over all the admission process was smooth but mind it whenever they ask you for physical verification you have to submit indemnity bond and medical fitness certificate with other documents.
Course Curriculum Overview
I don't know about other departments but in our metallurgy and mechanical department, the curriculum is huge and well divided in all the semesters. No of faculties are 8 in metallurgy department and student is 30 so the ratio is also good. All faculties have a minimum of B-Tech and some have M-Tech and Few are there who have Ph.D. also in their respective topics and are industrially experienced. Every year two semesters are there as other colleges but with that external exams, lab exams, internal exams are also there in every semester.
Placement Experience
Reshmi metals, Tata metals, JSPL, BRGD, TMPL, Kiswok industries limited, Patton India came for placement and offer an average of 13000/per month but the first two companies offer 15000/month as per student caliber. For getting a job in the placement you have to maintain 75% attendance and a 7.5 CGPA minimum. 26 Students out of 30 are placed remaining four are girls so as per the criteria of the companies they don't secure the position. I have an offer but I am doing B-Tech so I refuse that.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees are very low and they provide scholarships to qualifying candidates and provide financial assistance if the student requires that. SVMCS is the popular one and other private scholarships like MI India Scholarship and many more are there. For girls Kanyashree is available. They provide campus placements.
Campus Life
The campus is huge and all-around only green and green. Classrooms need some repairing and lights, no audiovisual system is there in any classroom but in the meeting room, they have that. No wifi is there. But the labs are well equipped. Semesters books are provided by a book bank, no digital library is there but the normal library is good enough. All types of cultural activities like freshers welcome, farewell for passouts, Biswakarma puja, Saraswati puja, Fest, Tech Fest arranged by the college authority.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are quite good than classrooms. In every room, two partners share the room and if the room is bigger in size then 4 students share the room. The cost is low only rs 100 per month. The meal is enough in quantity but averages in quality. For getting hostel at the time of admission you have to fill a form for hostel and as per the distance from college to student home, priority is given. the hostel is in the proper location so don't worry about communication.
