Remarks

It comes in older IIT, placement also good. The branch I wish at that time was VLSI & IIT Guwahati allowed GATE-EE students. now they allowing only ECE students. Lot of students on Facebook group gave good reviews of VLSI specialization so i went for it.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course curriculum is pretty much same like other top IIT. VLSI is very challenging field and also interesting one. The faculty in IIT Guwahati are good, Everyone has done PHD from top iit or top foreign universities. There will be endsem and midsem exams, in between the course there may be surprise quizzes. Assignment will be there and everything has weightage for grading. Exams are little difficult but yes you can pass it but scoring is difficult.

Class Size: 20Course Fees: INR 155000 per year

Internships Opportunities

I haven't opted for internship. There are lot of companies visiting for internship. For Mtech students internship will depend on professor under which you are working.

Placement Experience

Campus placement are depends on your specialization. For some specialization there are lot of opportunities and for some there are very few in the core domain. Software profile jobs will be opened for everyone and there are lot of opportunities to get placed in software profile. IIT Guwahati has very good placement record.

Fee Structure And Facilities

You will get education loans easily. There is bank inside campus. But for Mtech, government is providing stipend and in that everything can be adjusted. Fees were(2019-21) 1st sem=50k, 2nd sem=35k, 3rd sem= 35k, 4th sem= 35k. This fee includes hostel, mess and all academic.

Campus Life

People celebrates almost every festival. Alcheringa is major festival, techfest will also there. You can find almost every book in the central library. Classroom are AC/NON AC both. You can find most of the outdoor and indoor sports. There are lot of clubs run by students only

For Placement purpose you must get more than 7.5 CGPA to sit in the placement there are lot of companies which often offers jobs from TCS, Infosyss, etc but you may not get placement in your core subject Average package offered is around 4.5 LPA.

A beautiful college

Placement Experience:

Placements are decent in my branch. But in recent times there is a dip in coming companies.Average package of my branch is 8 lpa and highest goes around 21 lpa. Almost 80 percent students get placed and others choose phd. My plan is to get a good package job.

I had qualified GATE entrance in 2016 and score 398. Gauhati University is the oldest and best university in the entire north-east. Gauhati University has more than 30 departments and known for its quality education. It is located in the capital city of Assam and have a very beautiful campus. Railway Station and Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport is near by it. Its one of the best University of India i have visited in my life.

I have applied for DTU & IIITD where I got Software Engineering Branch through the JEE Mains Scores. But since I was sure to join old IIT. I was not sure much about branches so, I just filled all the core and circuital branches of all Old IITs. I wasn't able get other top IITs as my rank in JEE Advanced was not that level.
