Remarks

It is a college under control of Indian Space Research Organization and the faculties of this college are highly experienced and qualified. The library and laboratories are great. Also there is opportunity for students to do internships at ISRO. After completing the course students get job opportunities in ISRO based on merit. The location of the college is also good, accessibility won't be a problem. Railway station and airport is available within 30 kms. The city is also easily accessible and would satisfy our needs. There are also a lot of greenery in the campus.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

This college is the best place for students who are interested in space related stuff. Apart from Btech and Mtech there other science related courses and research opportunities. Generally the number of girls are very less in Btech courses, less than 10 in a total of nearly 150 students. The faculties are very experienced and qualified and everyone has their own unique teaching methods. The college has a well planned calendar and exams ,classes etc will be strictly based on that.IIST is a deemed to be University and the decision regarding curriculum and exam are taken by itself. For an average student the exams won't be too difficult to pass.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placements from this college are mainly to ISRO. Generally almost 60% or more get placements in ISRO. The job opportunities from other companies are less as the number of students are less and majority are placed in ISRO.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The new fee structure is nearly 90000Rs(tution fee:65000Rs + hostel and mess: 25000Rs) per semester. There are opportunities for scholarships and financial assistance based on merit. There is a fairly good chance to get absorbed to ISRO but placements outside are low as compared to IIT's.

Campus Life

3.5

The campus is large and has all the required facilities but the number of students are less. So to strengthen the student's activities everyone needs to be enthusiastic. To say about the infrastructural facilities ,there are 11 hostels and 3 of them are for girls. The hostel are spacious and well maintained and cleaned. Every student must stay in the hostel during the course period other than semester breaks. To take leave you must take permission from the required authorities. Students can go out of the campus but should return before 9:00pm.The mess is also very large and neat. The food provided is also good. There is also a cafeteria available. For recreational purposes there are tennis courts, basketball court, volleyball, chess, carroms, billiards etc are also available, there is a large ground outside campus for cricket and football.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The rooms are spacious. Generally 2 or 3 people are in one room. Cleaning of rooms should be done ourself but there are workers to clean hostel corridors and bathrooms. Bathrooms and toilets are clean and there are enough numbers also. There is no additional registration for hostel. Rooms are available for everyone. The mess is also good. The food should be booked before to reduce wastage.

Admission

The admission is based on JEE advanced ranks. But you have to apply separately for allotment, it's not along with allotment for IITs. They will publish a rank list based on the jee advanced ranks of the students who applied for admission. Only 3 Undergraduate courses are available. Aerospace Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Engineering Physics (dual degree, 5years). The seat distribution is nearly 65+65+20.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the EEE course curriculum around 8-8.5 /10 in terms of relevance. The curriculum provides strong fundamentals in core electrical engineering subjects and prepares students well for core jobs and higher studies. The course curriculum was revised in 2023, and our batch is the 1st batch under the new curriculum. however, there are still limited coding ,AI and data science subjects in EEE ,which could be improved. Exams are conducted times per semester and are generally moderately difficult.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because it is rare and it have high potential in national as well international level. But in this college they don't have enough facilities to teach so it won't prepare a student for real-world application. They should include seperate good lab facilities for environmental studies, need permanent teachers and placement activities should be provided. Exams are semester wise and they are easy and easily prepared within short period of time
