Remarks

I was an NRI student and hence using the DASA (Direct Admission for Students Abroad) Scheme was my best shot at getting into top tier Engineering Colleges in India.I had to write the SAT 2 exam, I scored a total of 2110/2400. A decent score with which I could get into most NIT's but couldn't apply for the most preferred course being Computer Science Engineering. I choose NIT, Calicut due to the closeness of the Institute from my home town. Electrical and Electronics Engineering was my preferred choice due to my interest in Physics as such from my grades 10th - 12th.Academics wise it is a great institute, however you have to be super attentive. Cause a few portions missed and you'll find it really hard to cope up towards the end of it all. Also one shouldn't take their academics too light cause if you plan on studying there you should make complete name value of the institute else if you have varied interests in my opinion you should just drop out and focus on your interests rather than trying take it all together.Co-curricular wise it is a great institute, they have some great people and a bunch of excellent clubs, communities and sport & cultural teams. In that sense it is a very happening institute and you get to learn a lot.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

Course Curriculum is very diverse. Very intense curriculum, however if you're into Electrical Engineering you'll enjoy it. If not it's going to be extremely hard to cope up if you don't pay attention when required to pay attention. Faculty to student ratio is around 1:15. Most associate professors have a PhD. Very interactive professors, they try to keep you up to date with ongoing trends. Some faculties don't have the patience and hence might seem very intimidating. However I assume that's prevalent in most institutes. We had 3 exams, Test-1, Test-2 and End Semester exams. It's standard continuous evaluation procedure.Labs are a little outdated.

Placement Experience

4

If you have a decent GPA post graduation, there is a good chance of getting placed. We have a very strong Training and Placement cell. Placement percentages are very high. Especially if you're in the Computer Science Branch.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Since I was a NRI student my fee structure varied. I was paying close to Rs 5,00,000/year. No on campus jobs, however you can always apply for online internships to make money on the side. Side internships provide good source of income.

Placement are not the best. But EY , federal bank, TCS are some the prominent companies that are coming. The negative thing about placement is most of them are offering marking jobs. So if you are someone who is interested in operations this is not the collage you want to in.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
