Entrance Preview
During my times, we all studied following prevailing norms. So, I opted for commerce graduation like several other students. I was suggested by elders to take admission in any college in Mumbai (I lived in Kalyan then), so that I get better exposure of the city. There was no entrance exams for my course.
Course Curriculum Overview
The commerce course was quite straightforward and simple during my academic years. We had fixed syllabus and tried-and-tested way of following it. It covered varied subjects and those subjects were offered by all institutes in a similar fashion. The first two years, i.e. till second year B.Com, the syllabus was different that what it was afterwards.
Internships Opportunities
I don't remember whether my college offered internship then. Today, I know that our principal is really doing her best for students' progress. The college has lots of encouraging offerings and it always strives to ensure that students get more than just a degree while studying.
College Events
We had many events happening in the college, mostly starting from August. From various days and annuals and infrequent happenings, we had a blast. I was a part of NSS from First Year B.Com and also handled the Gujarati Cultural department. I still remember that we had managed to educate few people in the Asalpha village area. And we had successfully improved the way Gujarati department was organising cultural events.
Fees and Financial Aid
I believe all education institutes offer scholarship and such things. I had not opted for this and so, I had not inquired much about the same during my college years. Now, I know that my college has great offerings on this front, supported by both the college and donors. In fact, I am seriously feeling that students like me must come forward and join the college's initiative to encourage students and help those who need assistance.
Exam Structure
The exams were held four times every year. We would, like most students, quite lenient during first three exams, at least except during SYJC and Third Year B.Com. We had no tough time during exams also and the blame should be on us and not the college. For, the college always held exams with complete care. If students do not take exams seriously, the college should not be blamed.
Admission
I was taken to the college by my uncle (Mama) and Papa. The process was quite simple and it took just a couple of hours to be admitted at the college. Even then, the staff was very cordial and helpful, and that was the reason everything went off smoothly. I still remember that day well and feel happy for the decision of studying at the college.
