Remarks

I applied for both IITs and NITs but I got NITs only in all 6 rounds. I wanted NIT Jalandhar but due to branch priority, I opted for NIT Hamirpur. No, I don't have any quota I am a General (OS) candidate. There is as such no age limit because you have to give JEE Mains which you can give only two times (along with 12th and dropper). The closing rank of NIT Hamirpur (EE) for general (OS) was 25845(CSAB-2 Round) which was me and my jee main score was 97.66%ile and AIR 25,845. In the year 2020, JOSSA counseling was organized through online mode where you need not report at the college which you got after 6 rounds (for both IITs and NITs), after that you have two CSAB rounds only for NITs. In JOSSA counseling you have to fill choices in priority order and there is no limit you can fill as much as you want and then you have to upload documents and pay fees. Once your college is alloted you have to send documents via speed post. That's all.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I opted for electrical engineering due to its vastness of field and I can go for coding as well. Faculty: student ratio is not that much good as some teachers were suspended now college is recruiting more teachers. Teachers are well qualified mostly have a doctorate degree and have decent experience. The teaching method is quite simple in online mode just read the PDFs and teachers are not putting any effort. Term exams were scheduled in the compact schedule this year as the 1st-semester end-term exam was in March 2021 and 2nd-semester end-term exam was in July 2021. So, around a gap of 3 months exams were organized but now in 3 rd semester, the end-term exam will be in December 2021 after 5 months. So, now it will be the same as usual a gap of nearly 6 months.

Internships Opportunities

4

On campus, Internships are mostly available for the students in IT companies. Few core companies visit campus you have to go off campus if you want to grab an internship in core companies. You should have knowledge of atleast one programming language and of data structures and algorithms to get an intership in IT company. You can opt for internship after 2nd year. First internship you will get mostly in new startups.

Placement Experience

4.5

Students are eligible for placement after 6th semester and top companies visit here to hire. Last year Amazon also started visiting NIT Hamirpur. The top companies are Adobe, Accenture, Oracle, TCS, Reliance industries, and many more. In this year 18 students of NIT Hamirpur were selected for Google summer of code(GSOC) as well. In 2019, ee placement achieved 100%placement and in 2020, 61.3%. One thing I want to clarify that if you are a determined students then you can grab a very high package as well such as in 2019, highest package was 1.2Crore per annum and in 2020, 42lpa. Mostly IT companies hire the freshers with a high package (10-12lpa) , core companies hire fresher at low package ( 5-6lpa) So, this college provides immense opportunities in terms of placements and internships to you. My plan is to become a Web developer and I am consistently working on that. This year 2021 for ee department highest package is 16 lpa till now and mostly students are placed in IT companies.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are high as there is no such waiver in online mode. Fees such as rent room and internet charges are included while we have not visited campus yet. So, these charges are extraordinary in online mode. In offline mode, the fees is totally ok and many scholarships are there for financially poor students. I am second year student now and due to general category and family income>5 lakh I didn't get any scholarships. I am not job ready and for now I have no financial assistance.

Campus Life

3

The annual tech fest of NIT Hamirpur is 'NIMBUS' which is organised in the month of March and annual fest is 'Hillfair' very famous which is held in the month of October. Library is very good here and due to online mode college has create a digital library as well for students convenience. All the necessary books are available and further you want some more you can contact library head anytime. NIT Hamirpur has a very beautiful and infrastructure and all classroom are upto mark. There are various sports club and various tournaments such as inter nits tournament where one can explore the talent they have in field of sports. I have been selected in Team OJAS (technical team of ee department in NIMBUS) where I learnt some software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe premier pro and Arduino as well as I got a chance to present one project named 'Indirect Solar Dryer'. Along with I was selected in elsoc ( society of ee department) where also we are working on projects.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

These facilities are not much aware of that due to online mode as far as I asked seniors about this these facilities are fine. Room are double or three-seater for fresher in the further year they can opt for a single-seater room. The meal is not that good but is eatable.

Other Applied Colleges

Students become eligible from 7th semester for campus placement but you can apply off-campus if you want. A lot of times off-campus placements are of better amount than on campus placements. Almost out of 400 students present in a year, 100 get very good on campus placements.(Almost above 10 lakhs) 100 get between 5-10 lakhs And rest ho for higher degrees although they get a placement of 4-5 lakhs
