Remarks

I have chosen IIM Trichy and the main reason was the faculty. The faculty we have at IIM Trichy are very good. They have done their PHDs from top B schools. Apart from that, the facilities that we have in our college like LRC - Learning Resource Centers. We have all the books we want to read and articles and resources. After that, as compared to other IIMs options I had, the placement of IIM Trichy was also good. This college is good in finance, has good infrastructure, good faculty, and own hostel as compared to IIM Ranchi. We have a single occupancy room and its more feasible than other occupancy rooms. So, these were the things I considered for selecting this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

In our first year, we have the general management which includes all the subjects related to finance, marketing, operations and strategy. In PGP 2 we have the other option like we have to chose elective, which field we want to take, we have some major minor options for that. We can chose elective according to our choice like related to finance, marketing and operations. Internals totally depend on professors like how they structure the course. In some courses there may be a class participation and in some there may not be any. In cooperate finance, we don't have any class participation. When it comes to strategy we have 30% weightage for the Class participation. It depend on the course and professors also how they want to take like if the discussion is very important then they give marks for the CPs also. We have group projects, individual projects, mid term marks, end term marks, there's a whole composite that we have to take care of. We have Tri-semester. So, in approximately we have a batch size of 250 right now, and most probably, we have 30-35 permanent faculties, we have visiting faculties also, so it becomes around 1:10 faculty student ratio. Coming to how they teach, it also depends on professor like, some professors are really good, they show videos in the class and they make class very interactive. This time it was online, it was a bit challenging for the discussion part, but still it was good. It was a interactive session. We have some classes that we have to prepare for first. The professors also uses ppt to show the concepts. It is a very nice experience.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

For the summer internship we have many good companies this year, like we have JPMC(JP Morgan), we have HSBC, RBS, RBI, they've offered multiple roles inn finance, sales and marketing, and strategy. We also have mckinsey for operations. The mid level stipend was approximately 80-85 K for summer internship, the highest was around 2-2.5 lac, and the lowest was around 40-50K.

Placement Experience

4.5

For the final placement, we have the best placements right now. JP Morgan, HSBC, and like all the top recruiters are in our list. Despite of COVID 19, the placements went very well. The average package touched 15 Lacs, the highest was around 34 lacs and if we talk about lowest it was around 10 lacs.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For the scholarship part, for general category, we do not have any scholarships. But for SC/ST, we have. I'm not that aware of those scholarships as I am not from that category. But basically we also have some good things like Director's Merit List. Like if you are a rank holder from 1-15, you get DML scholarship which gives, 1st Rank: 3 lacs, and till 15th will get 50K.

Campus Life

4

So, right now I'm a sports member, we have conducted events, though it was online, like ludo, chess to make people more social so that they can connect to more people. Coming to extracurricular part, right now DHRUVA is going on, we have the culture night, may be this time it will be online, but that'll happen for sure. I think the social part is like a different learning experience when you are on campus, but it is good also right now that we are connected to more people but on campus is surely more better. We also have Diwali celebration events then we have republic day, and so on.

Admission

The admission process was offline. There were many students for the interview. They've different slots for different days. During my day, there were 10 moderators and they gave 25 minutes to write. My topic was 'How the Machine Learning is changing the world and how it will affect as there will be an increase in the unemployment rate'. For SNAP, there was a image of a lady who was in the hospital, so we have to write some story about that, something related to the Ayushman Bharat scheme. When I got the topic, I prepared myself before to present my thoughts. So, first was like normal introduction like what is machine learning and then I talked about how is it changing the world. And how it will affect the unemployment rate and afterwards I talked about what is my conclusion, what is my point of view, because you've to tell your point of view. So, there were 5 members, and everyone got a chance, turn wise. I was the second member to speak. It was pre-decided that who'll speak what. For the CAP interview it was 2 persons. It was not interview type it was an interaction. So, the first generic question I got like in every interview was that 'you are so good in sports, then why do want to do MBA', as I presented National and international levels in Basketball, so they were like why you want to do MBA if you are so good in sports. So, my answer was always, that it was my interest that I do in my free time but my main motive was to do the MBA because I was so fascinated by finance and the marketing part, like how the business world work. After that I got academic related questions, what is risk, what is CAP, what is efficient frontier, some generic topics. Third question was 'Why MBA?', it is a common question for all as everyone has a different answer as everyone's perspective is different.
