Remarks

DU conducts an Entrance Exam for LLB every year and around 20000 students apply for it. Among which around 2800 students get admission. As DU is a Central University has a reservation system. Among these 2800 seats 40% are unreserved, 10% are economy based reservations and the rest are reserved for socially backward classes. Students are admitted based on their ranking among their respective categories. For unreserved, generally, the student who scores more than 230 out of 400 gets admission. After the results are announced, a merit list is issued for those who get elected to take admission. They will be given reasonable time to submit their documents, which will be verified by the university thereafter. As soon as the verification is done, a fee payment link will be sent to the student, after payment of which his admission is considered successful.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

DU law faculty has a very high reputation in the legal field. Many of the top lawyers and judges are its alumni. The teachers are highly qualified and experienced. Most of them are PhD. holders and have also published many books relating to the field they are specialised in. Exams are held after every 6 months. Every semester consists of 5 papers. As a professional law course, passing exams require rigorous study. Without investing sufficient time in study, passing the semester exams are very hard as the questions have given are case study based and solving them requires a deep understanding of the concepts.

Internships Opportunities

3

Internship opportunities are provided to students in their final year. The stipend provided in legal internships is very low. As Delhi is a hub and paradise for legal professionals having lower courts, high court, supreme court, the opportunities provided to students are abundant. Many legal firms and practitioners approach the campus to hire students as interns. Though the stipend is low the practical experiences gained during the period is invaluable.

Placement Experience

2.5

The campus provides internship and placement opportunities to the students. It has its own placement societies which attract large legal firms to hire students. The average package provided is around 4-5 lakhs per annum and the highest can be around 20 lakhs. Arounfd 10-20% students gets placement. I plan to go into litigation after completing my degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

Doing a law course from DU is very affordable. Per year costs only around Rs. 5-6k only. Which is extremely cheap compared to other law colleges whose fees generally go to lakhs. Also, the quality of education is very high and the environment it provides to students makes them ready for hardship in the legal field.

Campus Life

4

Fests are held every year and students very enthusiastically takes part in them. The college also published its own journal where students submit their articles which, only after being approved by the council, are published. It has a huge library containing the majority of the books related to law. Infrastructure wise it lags behind other law colleges. The furniture is old, fans don't work properly, do not have ACs. There are a large number of societies for extracurricular activities and many students join them. They provide students a chance to perform varieties of activities which they desire.

The curriculum is very much practical knowledge based and helps the students to grow there legal reasoning which helps them to prosper in the profession. Also it helps them to read and correlate the real time judgements being passed, this curriculum prepares the students to understand the reasoning behind the judgements. Though the curriculum is practical knowledge based it still requires many improvements as these case are old and some of them are even overruled, also the we have to write very long answers which needs to be changed as new methods like ooen text book exams can be adopted to improving.
