Remarks
The college management has hitherto rendered all events fluid, with there being no hiccups due to management issues. There have been no problems in procuring permissions for opening new societies and teams and for organising events. There are also no problems procuring college facilities such as buses, accompanying professors for observational trips.
Entrance Preview
I took the IIT-JEE examination and scored 210 with a rank of 3180. I opted for this college as it was the most reputed college offering the course of my choice, i.e. B.tech Mechanical Engineering. Also, it was in the city I reside in.
Course Curriculum Overview
In the first year, course curriculum is very vast, comprising of introduction to Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Programming and Communication skills as well as advanced knowledge in mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. In Math, Physics and Chemistry, the knowledge provided builds upon the topic taught up to class 12.
Internships Opportunities
The college does provide internship, though the details are not known to me, being a student of the first year.
Placement Experience
The placements and job opportunities are excellent for all branches. World-renowned companies such as Google, Microsoft, Adobe, Airbus, Schlumberger visit the college in every placement season. The results for placement this year are not out yet. In previous years, packages have been as high as 1.27 crore (Google, 2015).
College Events
The largest event of the college is the Engifest, held in February every year. Engifest is among the largest cultural fests in Delhi and has been being organised for over 30 years. The scale of Engifest is huge and it is organised over 3 days, with competitions and lectures by renowned personalities as well as parties ending with a star night. INNOVA is the annual techno-management fest of the college and is held over a month.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is feasible, with an annual fee for first-year students being 1.25 lakh rupees, scholarships being awarded to the economically backward by the Delhi Government. Scholarships are also provided on the basis of CBSE board examination percentage and CGPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college provides scholarships to economically backward students. Scholarships are also provided by the Delhi government to students of the reserved castes on the basis of their 12th Board percentage.
Campus Life
Campus life is very casual and students are allowed to pursue any subject of their own bidding via clubs, societies, etc. The gender ratio is skewed in favour of boys. Students from around the country are present in all classes. There is a Kashmiri Migrant quota as well. Economic status of students is not taken into account while making friends and most students are open to opinions contrary to theirs.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors are extremely helpful and so is the alumni network All of them are easily approachable and capable of guiding you every step of the way. Seniors are open to being contacted and asked about any issues a junior might have.
Exam Structure
Owing to the academic calendar of the college, a semester is usually 4-5 months long. This effectively means that there is an exam after every six weeks of study. There are no exams in the between these weeks and examinations are well spaced-out, leaving us with enough time to study and pursue extra-curricular activities.
Faculty
The faculty of the college has been very helpful hitherto and is extremely approachable for doubts, assignments, extensions, etc. All new assignments are shared on a common Whatsapp group by the faculty and shift of class are fluid and easy to arrange. The faculty has been very flexible in scheduling classes and leaves, if any, are informed about well in advance.
