Remarks
So my admission was through the DTE portal. I was allotted Thakur College of Engineering and Technology Mumbai, in the very first merit list based on the MHT CET examinations results. I selected the float option which means waiting for better opportunities in the upcoming rounds. But after the third list, from the other two opportunities I had got, I chose TCET. The paperwork and the legalities for admissions are very smooth and cooperative in TCET. They ask us to fill in a 4 pages form which has every single detail of us. Then they take an undertaking for Anti ragging. Yes, there is no ragging on the premises. It has zero tolerance for the same! Once the form is filled, the fees are submitted, you are a student of this reputed college! So I opted for Information Technology (IT). And the intake for the same was 120, which were divided into two classes of 60 each.
Course Curriculum Overview
Academics at TCET is something which I really appreciate and respect. The faculties are highly professional and all of them are either PhD Doctorate or Master's degree holders. The course curriculum is so well covered and is covered at the perfect time so that there are revision classes planned before the exams. The midterms too are taken in a very well way. The majority of the college's do it just because it's a mandate imposed by the university and they do it without giving utmost care. But examinations and results at TCET are something they value and take good care of. And this is the major reason why they have now gained Autonomous recognition from the University! Yes, TCET is an autonomous college, they gained Autonomous recognition in the year 2020. It was a proud moment for us students too as well as the entire management team, the faculties and the non teaching staff. Being in an autonomous institute too is a very big deal. You come out as a reputed student.
Internships Opportunities
Internships opportunities at TCET are great! There are two categories, in-house and outhouse internships. In-house is conducted in the campus itself wherein students are trained on a particular subject or domains or disciplines and they are required to make a project on the same. So it is a kind of Project based internship. Outhouse internships are conducted every six months in the break the students get after every semester. Some ample companies and startups join the internship campaigns to hire the students and assign them internships. There are both paid and unpaid internships in the outhouse category. The paid one's averages around 6000-7000 per month. The benefits of these programs are that, the students get professional knowledge of working on projects, behaving in ethical ways, and most importantly they get corporate world knowledge and understanding and experience. The projects too are highly professional and they are part of students portfolios
Placement Experience
Campus placements records at TCET are higher than any other private colleges in Mumbai. The percentage of placement is 95-96%. Majority of which comes from the Computer Science, IT and Electronics and Telecommunication departments. Civil and Mechanical departments too have a great placement record, although they are a bit less than the other departments. The number of companies visiting the campus per year is somewhere around 55-60. The list includes all the categories of companies, i.e. huge IT giants to medium scaled companies. The highest offered package is 21 LPA, by MuSigma Pvt Ltd. The second highest is 15 LPA by Amazon. And then we have an average of 6-10 LPA by Capgemini, Accenture, Seclore, Cognizant, IBM, Oracle, etc. So yeah, it is definitely the best place to be in!
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure is somewhere around 148000 per year now. It has increased because of the autonomous recognition that the college has gained. Earlier, before the autonomy, it was around 132000 per year. But, yes, it is definitely worth putting this much amount. The infrastructure is perfect, the campus placement record is something you'll hardly get in any other private college. Yes, there is scholarship assistance, there is assistance for the EBCs, and financially weak students and families. And this is a huge advantage here. The campus placement average ratio is 95-96%. This is because ample companies are visiting the campus every year. And now since it has gained autonomy, the companies have increased too. I, myself being placed in Capgemini India with a package of 6.8 LPA The average salary compensation in the campus placement is 4.5-6 LPA which is definitely a good amount compared to the private colleges.
Campus Life
Life at TCET is amazing! You have so many things available to do for co-curricular and extracurricular activities. There are so many professional bodies, committees, clubs which you can be a part of and learn great management skills. I was the Cultural Secretary of TCET in the final year and the Joint Cultural General Secretary in the third year. So this experience helped me in the professional life too. It is fun at TCET. There is a huge Central library which has a collection of more than 8000 books for all the respective departments and Master's degree. The guidance you get from seniors always helps you. There is such a friendly environment out here in TCET, there's nothing called as a Junior Senior barrier. Everyone is the same for everyone. The classrooms are equipped with centralised ACs, they are smart classes, which means whiteboard, markers and projectors support. Every odd semester there is a Tech Fest called Zephyr and a sports Fest called Tspark. Same for the even semesters
