CSE Department- IIT Kharagpur

IIT Kharagpur is one of the best places for BTech in my home-state and it was ranked 5 for BTech rankings in 2020 NIRF rankings. The institute holds various international academic accreditations and the selections procedure here is the same as other institutes under the famous IIT Group. The admissions are based on the score in the JEE Main and JEE advance entrance exams.

With over 19 Departments and 13 schools, IIT Kharagpur was a hub of a diverse range of course options for the students. The institute have well-equipped laboratories, modernised classrooms and latest teaching equipments to provide students with quality technical education content. The course has totally 8 semesters and the course curriculum is well built for the 4 year program

Almost all students were able to get good internships during the placement drive and I was quite satisfied with the internship I got. My experience there was a great one as I learnt a lot from the senior workers there

The 2020 placement were able to record an average annual package of INR 19 lacs. Nearly 85% of the students were able to get handsome offers and over 40% of the offers were offered under IT sector. 200+ recruiters were there for the round and the top firms were Bajaj, Accenture and Deloitte.

For the 4-year BTech program at IIT Kharagpur the total fee was INR 3.16 lacs and it can be paid in equal intervals during the 8 semesters of the course. The students belonging to reserved (SC/ST) categories can get financial grants under specific conditions of the government.

Campus life of IIT Kharagpur was very famous among the students as it gave them the opportunity to explore different extracurricular and academic fields. Events like Spring Fest, Robosoccer, tech fest and leadership summit are the most famous activities at IITK and prominent societies of the institute are Corporate & Media Cell,Tech Club,E-cell and VGSoM development cell.

IIT Kharagpur has a very well organised hostel, where students get to have the best possible exposure of hostel life. The rooms were available on both single and sharing types and the services of the staff were very appreciable. The food of hostel mess was also great and the taste was liked by one and all.

Getting a good score in the Joint Entrance Exam was the first step towards getting a seat in the prestigious IIT group. I filled IIT Kharagpur as my first priority and due to my good score in the entrance I was able to get a seat here. The allocation of seats was based on the Merit rank as per the centralised counselling process of JOSAA.
