Remarks

IIT Kharagpur produces different internationally reputed alumnus from the very early age. It is known for its standard of excellence. Candidates have to qualify GATE exam to secure admission in M.Tech program. B.E/ B.Tech with 55% score is needed as academic qualification for admisson and candidates have to appear in PI round as well.

Course Curriculum Overview

For two years M.Tech program students are offered four semesters. Elective courses are taught from the beginning and last two semesters focus on project work. IIT Kharagpur has globally acknowledged faculty members in technology department for excellence in teaching and innovative research.

As the institute has international reputation, it's placement record is always satisfactory. During the internship session the institute brings the best companies of India and the World. The highest and average CTC rose INR 19 LPA and 15 LPA respectively for 2020 - 2021 session.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Some of GOI scholarships are provided from the institute for educational allowance, hostel fees etc. Some of these scholarships are - merit cum means scholarship, ICCR Scholarship, ERP Scholarship etc. About 1000 students receive financial assistance from various corporations and foundations.

M.Tech in IIT KGP - What you need to know.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenario in IIT KGP is great if you're a B.Tech student. For M.Tech the placements are good but only in other departments like ME, CSE and CHE. Mostly students pursue research after M.Tech.

A student's perspective.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course structure is quite good. Only need the guidance which course is good of us. Syllabus is quite lengthy. I think theoretical knowledge is good but need of some practical knowledge is required. Laboratory work should be divided so that each students experience the best.

Placement Experience:

At the end of 3rd semester, students become eligible for campus placements. 1000 of company visit campus every year in January and December month. Placement takes place in two form one in December and other in January. Like IBM, puma, ICC bank, Deloitte, ABG, Lenovo, etc. highest package is about 2.68 crore per annum, average 15lpa According to different profiles. Students should have more than 8.5 cgpa for good placements. I will join a good company after completing the degree.

Since I was interested in getting into an IIT from class 11, and IIT KGP was the only college that gave the best branch to college ratio among all other IITs that I was eligible for based off my rank. The admission process for my college for B.TECH involves JOSAA, a counselling system for all government engineering colleges in India where the eligibility criteria is based off JEE ADVANCED rank. Since you can only select one college through JOSAA, the only one i selected was this as this was the only one I was alotted based off my rank. The cutoff for my college is around 12000 for General Male and 20000 for General Female. This increases for other categories like SC ST OBC etc....Read More
