ALL ABOUT IHML

I applied for the exam called NCHMCT-JEE from the site of NTA. Examination form is available on the site from January onwards and the form fee is around 900. The exam was supposed to happen in april but ended up happening in August (Due to lockdown 2020).the maximum age for applying is 25 for general and 27 for minority sections.Colleges are allotted on the basis of ALL INDIA RANK (AIR). There are several quotas as well for the minorities. There are total 2 rounds of counseling done in the online mode. I secured AIR 1301 (general) and was eligible to get any IHM except for IHM Pusa and Mumbai. Seeing the situation of a pandemic it was a wise decision to go for a college proximate to my place ( i am from Kanpur) , so i went for IHM LUCKNOW.

The reason i chose this course was that Hotel management is an area of study that covers a wide range of topics concerned with the operations of the hotel industry. Educational courses in the hotel industry are varied and cover topics as wide as marketing, retail , finance , eco-tourism and so on. The faculty at IHM Lucknow is well qualified and experienced. Our faculty members write the books which apparently run in all the IHMs , so you must be getting the level of their skills and expertise. Talking about the teaching method, the faculty provides you the notes and covers all the aspects of each topic ( both theoretically and practically) and also conduct special doubt solving sessions and practice papers. Each semester comprises of 2 exams mid term (50 marks) end term (100 marks)

Internships take place in the second year and is mandatory for all. There are 2 batches one is the summer batch other one is the winter batch . And we are supposed to go to hotels for interning, you can give walk in interviews as well as via college interview. Stipend is starting from 800-4k depending on the property.

Approx 99% of the students get placements in IHMs. The placement record of IHMs has been tremendous so far. Students are eligible for placements from the 6th semester. Companies like Oberoi, taj , air India , indigo , dominos, JLL , lemon tree, and much more come for recruitment. The average package is round about 12LPA.

The fees of IHMs are far less than that of the private hotel management institutions. The fee for 3 years in IHM is about 4L Whereas, fee for 3 years in pvt institutions will cost you about 10L - 12L . There are NO SCHOLARSHIPS provided from the behalf of IHMs. The placements here are good . Not only hotels but retail and airlines also come for the recruitment.

There is an annual fest named CONCORDIA which happens at our college every year in September. All the books and journals are available in the college library. There are also well-equipped labs for our practicals.

I am also a Hostelite and the hostel is provided on a Merit basis (your AIR) . The hostel is very affordable, they charge about 16000 for 1 semester In which you get proper 3 meals + evening tea and accommodation of course. And trust me the food in our hostel is really really good
