Ashab Abid Rizvi's Review On Jamia Millia Islamia University-[JMI], New Delhi

The admissions for Btech in JMI from 2016 are done through JEE Main score and rank. I scored 140 marks in JEE Main and my rank was nearly 60k. JMI was best suitable college for this rank group also it has some reserved seats for all types of Muslim.

The college rarely provide internship that also to some topper student or enthusiast, the internship mostly takes place in India, but some excellent pupils are known to be sent on foreign lands.

Placements of JMI varies from branch to branch, branches like CSE and ECE have remarkably high (90%)placement than EE,ME and Civil(20-30%).Companies like TCS, HCL, Maruti Suzuki etc. Visits the campus most of the years, but their are companies like Google , Accenture etc. That rarely visits the campus but offer high packages. The packages starts at 2-3 lpa and averages at 4-5 lpa.

Jamia is not known for any fest. There are rarely any. The societies whereas try to hold events in the break time containing different types of activities and games. There is an annual Talimi Mela (Foundation Day) held in Jamia, that contains various events like Poetry, Singing Competitions, Stalls etc.

The best thing about Jamia is its fee structure,for B.tech it is only around 10 k per annum, including all charges. Its very astonishing for the poor factions of the society and also for the middle class, The fee can further be lowered for extreme cases which is a very good thing.

MOMA is scholarship programme for the poor factions of the society which acknowledges Jamia. As the fee structure is quite low there is need for further scholarship programmes in JMI.

The Campus life is quite awesome, people are friendly and lovely and most importantly there is peace.In JMI there is 5% reservation for girls,thus avg girl to boy ratio goes up to 1:6. The mindsets of some people is somewhat Orthodoxed Muslim,but is limited to themselves and not on others.

Every Semester there are two sessional exams and one end sem followed by practicals. Labs and workshops takes place every week and the reports must be submitted the very next week. Apart from exams marks are given on basis of assignments and h.w which is quite frequently given. Saturday is also a holiday unlike some other colleges,that is sufficient to lighten up our mind.

The forms of admission in JMI are launched near November month on the official website and is linked through JEE mains, The choices must be mentioned in this form in order of preference. The official website of Jamia i.e JMI.ac.in launches the list of the students who are eligible for admission and are called on a particular date.

The Faculty of JMI are highly qualified some with PhD from around the globe, but most of the teaching work is done by the newbies or lower faculty, that are either recently graduated or are pursuing higher studies. Self Study remains the last choice for the students aspiring good grades.
