Remarks
The admission procedure for getting into THDC-IHET is quite simple. Initially, the seats are alloted through e-counselling and after 2 rounds of seat allotment the college goes for spot counselling. For this, you need to go to the college itself. The cut-off is not very high so you can expect admission to this college even if you score low marks in JEE Mains. After being alloted a seat you need to visit the college campus to get your documents verified.
Course Curriculum Overview
The faculty-student ratio is about 1:30. The teachers over here are good. There are many good Faculties from IIT's, NIT's having PhD. Degrees and they have great knowledge in their fields, but some of the faculty members are somewhat new and lack experience in the field of teaching. Generally, the college conducts one to two sessional examinations per semester and the end semester examinations are conducted by the UTU itself. The sessional examinations can be considered easy but sometimes you may get the end semesters hard. Though if you study even a month before you can pass them.
Placement Experience
The college is not known for its placements though. The campus placements are a bit less in number. As the college is situated far from the city so the companies usually don't prefer to come over here. The TNP cell along with the teachers tries their best to get the companies on campus though. Usually, the students go for off-campus placements. Recently one of our seniors grabbed a package of 13 LPA. Some got placed in TCS with a package of around 4 LPA. The students also participate in the pool placement drives and some of them get placed with an average of 5 to 7 LPA. The placement percentage is about 10% as far as I know. Generally, the students go for MTech or MBA afterwards in the hope of getting good placement opportunities. But yes if you are having the required skills you can get a placement from here or try off-campus. And college life provides you with a good amount of time so that you can work on your skills.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure for this college is quite pocket friendly. It is about 70000 per year and if you opt for hostel and mess as well it will cost you about 59000 additionally. There are some scholarship schemes for students as well. The students who belong to SC/ST category usually get the scholarship easily which covers their tution fees. For general category students, a barrier is there as your parents annual pay must be less than 1 lakh only then you can apply for the scholarship which covers your tution fees upto 100%. A TWF (tution fee waiver) scheme is also there, the seats for this category is only 2 which are alloted during the counselling by your JEE Mains scores. Also, you can apply for different scholarship schemes provided by the state government or the central government, if you are eligible for that and this, the college administration is quite supportive.
Campus Life
An annual fest is organised in the college every year in which you can participate in different events like ramp walk, dance events etc. The library of the college is good. There are a lot of books as per the curriculum and for skill development as well. If you want to go for competitive exams like GRE, GATE, TOEFL etc. You can find some decent books over there too. Coming to the clubs. There are some clubs in the college but non of it is active as far as I have seen (maybe due to Covid). But an annual cricket tournament is organised in the college with the name ICL, it is really a good event in which around 8 teams participate. Apart from all these things the college regularly conducts some seminars webinars and workshops for students to enhance their skill set.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is undoubtedly the best place for every student in his college life. There are 2 boys' hostels and 1 girls' hostel on the college campus. The views and surroundings of the boys' hostel are really very good. Surrounded by the mountains and a decent view of Tehri lake. The infrastructure is really very good as compared to other colleges. A single room is alloted to a minimum of three students and a maximum of four students. The room is really spacious with individual cupboards, a table and a chair along with a bed for every student. There are 10 washrooms and 8 bathrooms on every floor of the hostel which are good in structure. The college allows you a room in the hostel if you apply for it at the time of your reporting to the college after every year. The meals are like ok I must say you can not expect much from mess food. They provide you with 3 meals a day with snacks in the evening. The overall fees for the hostel including the mess are about 59000 per annum.
