Remarks
I have applied for Chitkara University BTech CSE but at Chandigarh University BE CSE with big data analytics seemed a good option as fees were the same for both the colleges. Initially, only students with 70% percentage in 10th and 12th were allowed but later 60-70% were also given admission. During the counselling process, the people responsible showed us the campus and gave details regarding college and various courses. Initially, they told us only 2 seats were left for the course so we need to get admission by the next day only, but people were admitted to the course even in late August and September.
Course Curriculum Overview
I was going to join BE CSE but they told me to join big Data, Cloud Computing courses which were relatively more expensive than BE CSE. So we agreed to it as at that stage I had no idea what big data analytics was 1 faculty for 60 students was the faculty ratio. Besides 2 or 3 faculties, everyone's highest qualification was BTech only. Few teacher's lacked teaching skills, technical skills to such an extent that they couldn't even answer how to write a C program for prime numbers. Exams were always on schedule as decided by the University.
Placement Experience
After the 6th semester, we are eligible for placement. Many companies visited for placement including Amazon, Google India, Cognizant, Wipro and many more. The highest package was 36 LPA but it was a joint placement programme with CGC Landran and CEC Janjheri. Many students who opted for placement were placed. Only CSE and a few ECE placed. Rest branches had a very low placement. I was placed incognizant, Wipro and Punjab E-Governance Cell. After the competition of BE CSE in 2019, I joined cognizant. This year 2021 I will join IITBHU for MTech CSE.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees remained constant for 4 years. There was no scholarship given to our course. Though we were taught specialization subjects due to incompetent faculty and curriculum, we were not deemed fit for the specialization roles in the industry. Only companies with side profiles came but the major placement was service-based companies only.
Campus Life
College invests heavily in cultural fests or tech fests. Besides this, there were events almost every 2 weeks. The library had various books and journals but no access to research papers was there. Classrooms were good, but it was very difficult to study during summers due to the high temperature and only 3 fans in each class. Sports, gymnasium are well equipped and no extra cost is charged for them. There are many non-technical clubs in college for dance, music, etc.
Hostel Facilities
4 people used to stay in one room. 4 beds, 2 fans, 4 almirahs and a cooler duct for each room. The meal was ok. Sometimes it was good but sometimes it was bad. No separate registration required. Everything was considered during fee registration only.
