I have applied for Post Graduate government College For Girls Sector 11 Chandigarh. It's deemed an institution of my city. I have availed Schedule Caste quota. But still secured my seat on basis of my marks. The addmission process is based on the cutoff. It took 4 counseling sessions depending on the marks of the students. Cutoff depends on the stream you are opting for. Minimum marks to get admission is ranges between 60-70 % depending on the seats. You have to fill the form online for the colleges and then choose college on a priority basis. Then on the counseling day you have to visit to college premises and submit the form and teachers will verify your documents and credentials. Then approve your admission later you have to deposit the fees for the course.

I have chosen the course because it better suits my interest. I have an upper hand in social studies. Studying politics, geography, and economics interest me alot. This is the reason of choosing arts. The faculty students ratio depends on the no. Of students choose a particular subject. If students choose polity which is much popular subject then the student ratio goes to 1:45 And if students choose subjects such as French, Sanskrit and music the ratio is 1:12 or 1:20 not more than that. The faculty of the college are the learned people and have specialization in a particular subject. A teacher who taught us to have doctrate in their subjects and put every possible effort to make it comprehensive for the students. The exams taken 4 times in a year, there are two house test exams and two main examinations. House test held in October and March and the main examination held in December and May. Exams are not that difficult to pass. But it all depends on the preparation of the students for their exams.

The various internships are provided on the basis of your course. I have studied add-on courses in guidance and counseling. We get internships and worked in SCERT here we learn to counsel students. Provided them with career counseling. Students of B.C.A. courses get their internships in the IT industry.

Students become eligible in the third year of their college. In the end months, the various placement companies come and offer jobs in the college. Amazon provided the 2,1,3000 annual package. Placement completely depends on the students and their preferences. Some students choose to study further and some choose to appear for the competitive exams and some choose to work. I have chosen to get into government institutions.

The students have to submit fees semester-wise. In a year you have to submit fees two times. The cost of a study depends on the subjects opted by students. Practical fees, honors fees, and basic fee structure. The fee hike depends on the Panjab University because colleges are affiliated with PU. Various scholarships are provided to the students based on economic criteria as well as caste criteria. Some NGOs are also working with colleges that provide fees based on the student's personal interview.

The campus life is quite active. There are so many activities in the college. One student is not able to participate in every activity. There are so many societies in the college. For example Prakriti society, traffic vigilance society, cultural society and globus etc. Every department has their own society and does annual activities and some big functions were also organized. Youth fest is the biggest fest held every year includes a number of activities. The library is very big. It includes two floors. There is a newspaper reading room and various journals. The classrooms are well equipped with the latest technologies. Projectors and computers. The sports competition held throughout the year. And parade function is also held to represent the college and its departments. There are NCC cadets and NSS unit of the college.
