Remarks
I had given an all India level exam known as COMEDK which allowed me to get a seat in one of the best private colleges in Bangalore. I scored an AIR of 24,870 and got my counselling dates in Bangalore. I was not satisfied with the stream that I got in the first round of counselling, which was automobile engineering in DSCE so I decided to go for the 2nd round of counselling and got Electronics and instrumentation eng. in DSCE in that particular round. The counselling process was very easy and organised, there was no confusion or chaos of any kind.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Electronics and instrumentation eng. as my course because of a few seniors who asked me to take that course, later I researched and found out that it is one evergreen field with enormous opportunities kiin the future, may it be AI, ML, Robotics or any other field which is going to be in great demand in the next 5 years from now can be taken up through the knowledge in this course. The number of students is around 50 in my branch and there are more than 15 teachers, each of them who is a master in their fields. The faculty members are highly educated and professional, and a few of them have a great way of teaching. Internals were taken regularly each month along with some class tests in between, thus everything is sorted.
Internships Opportunities
Every year, each dept. makes their students aware of the upcoming internship opportunities. I am a 2nd year student right now so I don't have much knowledge of the companies, roles offered and the stipend paid.
Placement Experience
sixth semester students get eligible to sit for campus placements. Mercedes Benz came last year and took only one student from the college, he was from the EIE dept. The highest package was around 20 lacs p/a and the average was 4 lacs p/a. More than 50% of the students get placed at DSCE.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fees are quite handsome but all private colleges have similar fee structures. The yearly education fee is around 2.45 lacs and the hostel fee is around 1.30 lacs for non Karnataka students or the students who got admission through COMEDK. The ones who got admissions through KCET(only for the students residing in Karnataka) have very few hostel fees, which is around 35 k. Underprivileged students do get a little assistance and scholarships from the college, but not always. I am a 2nd year student so I don't have a job or an internship yet.
Campus Life
Colleges in Bangalore are known for their fests. DSCE has a huge intercollege fest called Furore every year with celebrities as guests like Rashmika mandhana. There are fests like vibration for the students of DSCE too with celebrities as guests again. There is a big college library with a large collection of E books as well as other books available. Classrooms are very comfortable and spacious and well ventilated along with all the fans and lights working properly. There are a lot of sports played in DSCE like baseball, cricket, football, basketball, volleyball etc. and there are college teams for these sports as well. There is a club for everything, may it be drama, dance, singing, art, literature, science, aviation etc. Students of DSCE are very active in these clubs.
Hostel Facilities
The rooms are spacious in the Indian hostel(4 sharing) whereas they are a little congested in the Nri hostel (2 sharing). The Indian Hostel has a common bathroom whereas NRI hostels have a bathroom in each room. The food in the hostel of DSCE is good enough to be eaten but on some days it is too bad. The hostels are very much affordable for the students of Karnataka but the ones who are not from Karnataka and have got admission through COMEDK have to pay a handsome amount of 1.3lacs per annum for food and lodging. Affordability depends from the person to person. The registration process is very simple and can be done in an hour.
