Remarks
I chose GCET because of its placement criteria and coding environment. The placement cell is relatively decent and the surroundings for coding are quite healthy. You can take admission through two processes. First, by counseling criteria and the second by management quota. To take admission through counseling criteria you have to appear for the JEE mains exam as from the year 2021 AKTU will also be considering the marks of JEE mains exam. If you want to take admission through management quota then you have to collaborate with the merchandiser and you have to pay around 6 to 7 lakhs for CSE Branch, 3 to 4 lakhs for IT Branch, and 1 to 1.5 lakhs for ECE/EEE Branch. If you are highly interested in coding then I will highly prefer you to take this college because of its competitive coding atmosphere and placement cell.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose IT because I love to do coding. The faculty of our college is very much helpful and optimistic. They are always willing to help you out. Talking about their qualifications, every faculty member is well qualified and they are always energetic and positive. They will provide you their handwritten notes if you want to dive deep down into the course and I found their notes quite satisfactory. In our college, we have to give two internal exams called CAE-1 and CAE-2, and one external exam called a university exam. If you want to just pass the exams then you have to study a week before the exam, if you want to score well ( around 60%-70%) then you have to study 15 days before the exams and if you want to score good ( 80% or above ) then you have to study 1 to 1.5 months before the exams.
Internships Opportunities
Our college, GCET provides pretty well internships opportunities. The duration of the internships depends upon the stream, the students have chosen. It mostly prolongs from four weeks to six months. Companies that offer internships are TCS, PWD, BSNL, and Amazon, etc. For further more details, you can visit the college's website.
Placement Experience
Talking about the placements of our college. So then around 80% to 85% of students get placed every year. The highest package offered till now was Rs. 50,00,000 and the average package if of Rs. 4,00,000. The placement ratio of the CSE branch and IT branch is quite good. In these two branches around 80% of students get placed. And in other branches like ECE/EEE, around 50% to 55% of students get placed. Companies like TCS, Infosys Tech Mahindra, Cognizant, and Accenture are the mass recruiters. In the year 2019-20 the highest package a student gained is Rs. 11,18,669/- and the average package was around 3.5 to 4 lakhs. So there are a lot of opportunities, you can gain benefits as much as you want.
Fees and Financial Aid
For the course ( B.Tech ) you have to pay 1 lakh 26 thousand. If you want to gain the benefits of a scholarship then you have to score well on your semester exams. You can apply for a scholarship at NSP ( National Scholarship Portal ). If you are from UP then it will be quite easier to avail yourself of a scholarship as the UP government will first give scholarships to those students who belong to UP and then to other state students. More often if you are a girl child then you can apply for Pragati Scholarship Scheme but the only condition is that your family income should be less than 8 lakhs per annum.
Campus Life
Campus life at GCET is amazing. In our college, there are around 20 clubs. You can take part in any number of clubs and the fee for joining the club is Rs. 30 ( in this amount you can join any number of clubs ). The best part is that the club heads are very much cooperative and down to the earth. They will help you out in case you are facing any difficulty. You have to give auditions of the clubs and based on your performance they will choose you in their club. If you find any club, not interested then you can leave it and you can join another club in next year ( you have to again give the auditions to be a part of that club). If you are good at sports then there is a special club for sports, so you can join that club. There is a library in our college where you can find the books according to your needs. You can visit the college's website for further details related to clubs and events which happen in our college.
Hostel Facilities
I hadn't opted for a hostel as I found, going for daily up-down is a better option for me. But then if you want to opt for a hostel, you can go to a college hostel. The girl's hostel is far better than the boy's hostel. And if you don't want to go to a college hostel then you can go to Stanza, as I found it quite reasonable and good for both girls and boys. They will provide you the facility of the bus which will drop you at the college from the hostel and will pick you too.
