Remarks

The college management could improve a lot if they focus on innovation. For example:- they could conduct workshops frequently on latest technologies and innovations happening in computer engineering, electronics engineering, civil, mechanical, electrical and all other engineering streams.

Entrance Preview

I took Kerala State Entrance Examination. I chose this college as it was one of the best available within 50KM radius of my home. I preferred to be a day scholar. So I chose a good college within my limits.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The good side of Applied Electronics & Instrumentation is that you get the good of both Electronics & Instrumentation. Complete Electronics curriculum from the "Electronics & Communication" course is covered in Applied Electronics & Instrumentation course as well. Apart from this computer programming is taught through C language.

Internships Opportunities

The college offers internship opportunities for its students. But I don't think they pay stipends for interns. Basically, a college allows its students to go out on internship for shorter periods, like 3 months. And it is the company who offer internship opportunity to the student issues a small internship pay.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements are good. I had given many opportunities while I was in college. I cracked my first opportunity and got placed in UST Global. On my second opportunity, I got selected in Wipro. I was also given an opportunity to attend Infosys, which I didn't cracked. The college has direct tie up with UST Global and some other elite corporates. An active placement cell gives training to all students in cracking aptitude tests and attending interviews.

College Events

3

Sports day is there, Arts day is there, College day is there and above all - Cynosure - the technical exhibition cum festival run directly by college for all departments and other colleges. Cynosure is an inter collegiate meet for Engineers focused on technical events, debates, competitions etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I got admission here on Merit. I was paying government decided fees of 37,000 INR per year. So for 4 year course, my fee cost was only 37*4 = 148000 INR. This was in 2004-2008. Now I think the fees is 2.5 times to 3.5 times this amount. I consider myself lucky to have studied engineering in those days. I paid the course fees my own. Overall I consider fees structure in this college affordable.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are there for eligible students. The college offers financial aid for bright students (who are financially weak) who scores consistently in all semesters. They have tie ups with some banks to allot educational loans for eligible students.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus is neat and clean. The management is very strict on cleanliness, especially project director. The project director personally ensures not even a single piece of paper is thrown on roads or verandas. Class rooms are all neat and spacious. Some branches like CSE and Mechanical has gender imbalance (as usual in all colleges - CSE has females in higher numbers, where as Mechanical has males in higher numbers). Almost all other branches maintain that proportion. When it comes to sports - a good plain ground id available for Football and Cricket. A really good basketball court is there. Badminton is promoted. Athletics is not very supported here. Politics is not allowed inside campus. Competitions are entertained.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I was a day scholar so I don't have first hand experience about this. But from my peers, I know its decent and above average. Rooms are neat and clean. Warden is strict in many accounts, though freedom is there with limits. Food is good and tasty in most days but occasional bad days are there.

Alumni/Alumna

The college has a good and decent alumni network. Every year 26th December is observed as Alumni day and meetup is arranged at the college. Alumni meet is a great initiative from the college and successful alumni are usually invited to the college to help new students in their studies and career.

Exam Structure

When I studied Applied Electronics during the period 2004 - 2008, the course was managed by MG University. In these days, the new Technological university formed in Kerala - KTU (Abdul Kalam Technology Univesity) is managing all the engineering colleges in Kerala under a single umbrella. This makes it good to study across any college in kerala, as the course structure and curriculum are uniform.

Faculty

4

The faculty in this college is excellent. All teaching staff are PG or higher levels. HOD's are all either PhD's or people with high industrial exposure and expertise. Faculty are very supportive and they are of help to each and every student when needed.
