Remarks

Good aspects of the college are: 1. The campus is located in a very good area in Dadar locality of South Mumbai. 2. The faculties are very experienced and helpful. 3. The college holds its rank in the top 3 all over India. Bad aspects are of the college are: 1. The campus size is really very small. 2. There are rarely any sports facilities inside the campus because of its size. 3. The college timings are too long i.e. from 9 am to 5 pm. 4. The food in the mess is not that great in comparison to what you would expect in a hotel management college. The admission process is easy. You just have to give the entrance exam and on the basis of rank and quota, you get to the college. I chose this college over others because it is a reputed college and students get to explore more opportunities in the hospitality industry when they pass out from a good college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose this course because I was interested in cooking and I loved it. Also, we get to learn about the management part of a hotel and everything about a hotel in this course. The class size is generally near 65 to 70 per class and there is one teacher alloted per subject for teaching. The classes are huge in size. The faculties are mostly from a hotel management background and faculties teaching accounts and finance are from a finance background. Faculties are very experienced as they have worked in the hotel industry earlier. There are a total of 4 exams round the year. 2 exams per semester. If you study good and can remember concepts then exams are easy to pass.

Internships Opportunities

4

All the 5-star hotel is open for internships in all the four departments. I got placed at Oberoi Gurgaon for a 3-month internship where I got to learn a lot. I gained practical knowledge from there but due to covid the working of the hotel was not normal and had many restrictions.

Placement Experience

4

All the reputed 5-star companies come to our college for placements such as Tah hotel, Oberoi group, four seasons, st.regis, ITC hotel, Starbucks, and many more such brands. The salary you get after is course is nearly about 16000 to 22000 per month. Generally 90%+ students get placed from the campus itself but due to covid reasons in 2020, the placements were affected.

Fees and Financial Aid

IHM Mumbai comes under a class city and so the fees of this college are a bit higher as compared to other IHM colleges in India in other cities. The fees are around 135000 to 145000. This amount is excluding the hostel fee. You get hostel only after completion of 1st Year that too on criteria basis. Students can take a loan from banks as financial assistance. There are scholarships for people having quotas but no scholarships for general category students.

Campus Life

3.5

Every year in March we have a food fest named Cornucopia which is the biggest fest in our college. It is basically a food fest where students prepare food from different region and cuisines and sell them on the stalls. It is generally a 2-3 day fest. There are many books available in the library but you cannot just go anytime and sit and read. Each section has alloted day and time in the weekly schedule. There are no such sports activities on regular basis but once a year. We have a sports competition in 4-5 sports.
