Best college for engineering, good canteen, staff, placements.

I have given MHT-CET to get K.J.I have got 126 score in CET.I took K.J because of its reputation and Placements.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course structure is not that good.Though staff is better than rest of the reputed college like Vivekanand,D.J,father angel ,thadomal sahani etc. As i was from Computer Backgroud course for Comps and IT was much similar and even subjects were good to understand the methodology.

Internships Opportunities

No,College doesn't provide any internship you dnt need any internship to get a good job. You just need to clear the aptitude rest is all managed properly by mass recruiters.

Placement Experience

K J provide 100% to comps and IT as per Placements point of view you won't get a placement record as good as K.J in any private college out there.If u take comps or IT then there are changes that you get more than two offers.

College Events

Symphony is an Inter College Cultural Fest Organized by K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering. Symphony has come a long way in the last 20 years. It is not just another festival but has become a lifestyle for all Somaiyaites. Over the years, not only has Symphony witnessed many innovative changes and a colossal crowd, but we have also played host to some of the most eminent personalities in the field of entertainment.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Feasible or expensive its all depend on your condition on an average it feasible to all.Though for some people it might be high but they option to get 50% concession if they are not able to pay the fees.Govt provide half of tuition fees to college if you show some documents.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship is there but for toppers only not for all you have to in the top 3 to get the scholarship.

Campus Life

Kshitij is an annual magazine of K J Somaiya College of Engineering. This magazine is an attempt to provide the students a platform to reveal their ideas and hidden talents. The students' choice of articles ranges from a very scholarly exploration of ideas as per the student's intellectual curiosity , to a few techniques for aiding personality development and general issues.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel facility is available for the students within the campus of the Institution. Basic furniture is provided, but the students have to bring their own mattress, pillows and bed linen. It is mandatory that all the students enrolled for Diploma Program in Revised General Nursing & Midwifery stay in the hostel. Healthy and clean environment is provided in the Hostel; the accommodation is on sharing basis.

External Expense: Rs.4000 - Rs.7000

Alumni/Alumna

Senior were very helpful.They used to provide information about what to study in exams and how to study for placements.

Exam Structure

When i was in K J it was not deemed university earlier it was under Mumbai University so exams were tough as compare to other universities. Practicals were good but we were not serious about practicals. Some people were serious about everything and they got good internals if you want marks in internals you need to work hard for it.

Faculty

Faculty is not that great.Don't ever depends on K.J Faculty they have that mentality to work on for few hours. You cant aspect them to help you out after college hours or in Preparation Leaves.So basically you have to do what is right for you.Don't ever depend on any faculty.

Honest review if you wanna opt for this college

Likes

The girls to boy ratios is good, we get to see all girls equal contributing in the college
The faculty is good, they are very helpful and give good guidance
The boys and girls common room is good to get together with friends to chill and study

Dislikes

Faculty being good they are sassy and might ignore for a time to teach you that not everything will be entertained
The principal is kinda rude and his speech is too long
Well other activities like sports isn't support properly

Placement Experience:

From 7th sem students are eligible for placement Companies visited are tcs and few others i don't remember their names The average package is 5 lpa and the highest is 13 lpa Mostly 80-90% of students gets placement as they do a placement training for us amd prepares us for the placement exams and interviews and all My personal plan is to go abroad for higher studies but i am going to sit for placement if i get good package then i might not go to abroad for higher studies

PES College of Engineering: Overview of the college

Likes

The campus of the college is vast with a natural environment
Many facilities like library, sophisticated labs, and classrooms are provided by the college
The Teachers cover each and every point of the syllabus and guide the students.

Dislikes

The syllabus is a little bit outdated, that is some points in the syllabus may seems boring and not applicable in the real world.
The Teachers should use the right techniques for teaching which makes the students more engaging in the class.
The menu of the canteen must contain some health option in a budget friendly way.

Placement Experience:

The campus placement is decent in the college as compare to other colleges of the city . many companies visited the college every year to hire the skillful engineers from the college and offer them a good amount of package. The option of the offcampus palcement is also there for the students of the other colleges.

I really liked the infrastructure of the college its very nice and has good environment .
DPCOE is famous for its sports , it has massive turf where kids of 4 to 5 age has their matches
Also i like my department , as i am an automobile engineering we need most practical knowledge , this college offers a big workshop just for us an also yearly event for automobile students . Also clubs are there which has reputation of national rank

Dislikes

I kind of felt that faculty can be biased sometimes also do not care what and how we want to study .
Watchman can be little rude sometimes , also informing that their are exam coming in next week are to be informed at leat 10 days before. I have a suggestion of preparing acadamic calender of year

Course Curriculum Overview:

Soo ever since kid i was interested in bikes this interest was all for me to take this course , my father is very bike enthusiast and it came down to me , i could easily take mechanical and other engineering cause these are common courses which involves automobile , but since i wanted to follow my passion , i wanted to do specialization in automobile itself and DPCOE was offering this course with great facilities and knowledge providing us a path in this lane of career in this field. According to me curriculum prepares us quite well as they conduct workshop which are relevant to outside world where we'll be working. If there were more practical workshops for us to work on would be great cause automobile engineering is all about practicals rather than theoroticals Professor should try teaching in physical part rather than taking lectures and explaining the concept by just words

College campus, it is big, not much conjusted, good nature friendly
Freedom upto some level, no uniforms, no ID compulsion unless it is an exam
Events,every now and then there are events in college, cultural club is also too good here👍

Dislikes

Faculty is not much well qualified or well trained I would say
Hectic curriculum, boring schedules and quite unlivable
Labs and classrooms are too old, infrastructure is very old

Placement Experience:

Yes there is placement cell of STES which is no different than other tier 3 engineering colleges offering a tier 3 average package depending on who is the recruiter. Students become eligible for campus from 3rd year of their degree. Highest package is something around 55 lakhs offered to a computer engineering student,and average is just like I said for a tier 3 college 5-6 lakhs(above or below). Almost everyone gets placed in the company but some might not.

Campus is huge but is mostly empty need of development.
Need of infrastructure and sports facility for students.
Need of contact no. Of emergency contact of the staff.

Placement Experience:

I talk with most of the senior and faculty and placement cell start of 3 rd year you will get internship opportunities and and in 4 th year you will get placement opportunity. But senior told me off campus placement preparation must be go on you will find good opportunity. Highest package is 12 lpa and average is 4 lpa is good for freshers.

Easy Money

Likes

Rhythm. It’s a cultural fest that this college hosts and it is the only time of the year where there’s a vast majority of events you could participate in.
TECHITHON. It’s a Tech fest that this college hosts and it has tech events which encourages students to grow and learn more as this aligns with our course.
Friends. The last and only good thing about this college I’d say are the friends I’ve made across the years.

Dislikes

Infrastructure. I’m not really a fan of the infrastructure that is being provided by this college.
Campus. The campus has many such areas that cannot be accessed by students and god knows for what reason.
Stupid Rules. One stupid rule i can think of is that students are not allowed to use their cell phones in the campus nor can the students use their headphones without being on their phones despite it being an Engineering college this makes no sense.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This course currently is in high demand and this is the course which offers the highest percentage of placements. Computer Engineering is the fundamental course one could pursue if they want to get into technology. We currently have 2 Internal Exams in each semester which prepares us well for the semester.

I like my college building,classes,labs.
Canteen is good.it provides good quality food.
Library is best. Very nice management and staff

Dislikes

Canteen is good but they must increase their staff.
Class should be sound proof.noice from outside disturbs.
Stationary staff should be increased and price should be decreased.

Placement Experience:

From sem 7 students become eligible for campus placements. Companies like Accenture,Wipro, Microsoft, HyperVerge have visited college. In 2020 highest package was 30 lac per annum by Amazon. Last year only 40% students got the placement. I am planning for competitive exams after degree.

Hello, The infrastructure of the college is top class.
Their are multiple events in the college every month.
The faculty of the college are also well experienced as well as very friendly.

Dislikes

There are no AC in all the class only some of the class have AC

Placement Experience:

The placement percentage in my college is nearly 70-80%. The minimum package offered is 2.5 LPA and the highest is nearly 33 LPA . The average package is 4-5 LPA. Many companies vists are college as our college is NAAC accredited which has a grade of A+.

MTech MECHANICAL (K.J SOMAIYA)

I would say, it's upto you as to how you make the most out of the opportunities you get at the college.Personally I felt the experience to be rewarding, made great connections and experienced beautiful moments during all those 4 years of Engineering.KJSCE has a well maintained beautiful campus, surely amongst the best in Mumbai. Good sports amenities and facilities. Good engineering crowd, many gujjus because of the minority quota, so you will have to deal with hearing Gujarati, a LOT. Though I don't know about other departments, but the Mechanical engineering department indeed had smart students. The Mechanical Engineering department boasts the best Formula Student team in India (at least when I graduated it was). They even had many other teams which participated in BAJA, Shell Eco Marathon, Robocon etc. However, the one thing common across all the departments is that you can find the alumni in top colleges like Purdue, Georgia Tech, UMich Ann Arbor, NYU, CMU, Cornell etc. pursuing their Masters.A few cons are that there's no cutting edge research going on for the geeky types, won't get funding for projects easily, shit placements. Being in the heart of Mumbai, if a college can't bring in top companies, it's a shame. There's a lot of talent but they aren't given great placement opportunities. Majority of the students find it on their own through their connections. (Accenture, TCS & Infosys aren't considered great opportunities by me).The college has become autonomous and thus I hope it takes some lessons from Universities like BITS and IITs so as to introduce a much more diversified learning exposure, internships, student exchange programs with top universities, etc. It's important that students are exposed to subjects that matter in the real world along with the core engineering curriculum. Introducing a good curriculum can attract consulting and finance companies too for placements.Anyways if you get admitted here, you won't regret it....Read More
