Remarks
IGNOU (Indira Gandhi national open university) is the only open national university in India. Over 30 lakhs students from India and foreign countries are enrolled in ignou in various bachelors, masters, certificates and PhD programmes. Ignou admission process is very simple, here admission occurs in two cycles in a year, in January and July. Only a 12th pass is required to take admission in any undergraduate programme and just a graduation degree without any minimum percentage is required to take admission in a masters programme except for an MBA programme and a PhD programme in which candidate have to go through entrance exams. I preferred this college against any other college for my master because I wanted to do my masters in distance mode without any hassle and ignou was the best open university to do so whose degrees are valid everywhere even in foreign countries, also the fees is very affordable and student support was good, exam giving pattern is also very flexible.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose the master of economics course due to my sheer interest. Here are my course and study centre the faculty student ratio is 1:40. The teachers are well qualified all having done PhD in their field and are always ready to help the students via doubt clearing session and assignments. The teaching method is also very good giving focus on every student. Exams are conducted in a timely manner every 6 months cycle and we have the freedom to appear in any of the cycles as per our comfort so it is very flexible. Passing the exams requires above-average effort.
Placement Experience
As of now, ignou doesn't provide any regular campus placement but sometimes ignou conducts placement drive. I opted for a master in economics from ignou to be eligible to give Indian economic services and that's my employability plans after getting my degree from here.
Fees and Financial Aid
My course masters in economics fees are 8000 per year. And it's very affordable for students with poor financial background too. The university rarely hikes the fees. Many students from the marginalized community get financial aid or scholarship in their education from the central government.
Campus Life
No tech fest, no annual fest, no sports activities, no extracurricular activities.no physical library but we have a virtual library. AS this university is an open university and we don't have to go to college and the cons of this are that we don't get to attend any fest, functions of the college.
Admission
Direct admission into the post-graduation programme, the interested candidates just need a graduation degree in any field.
