Remarks
The good thing about an MBA from MONIRBA, University of Allahabad is that this course/degree is offered by a renowned central university in the country. The return on investment is good as a course fee of around 70k lands you in a decent entry-level managerial position in some renowned corporates like ICICI bank, ICICI prudential, Hero Moto Corp, etc. Upon entering the curriculum I realized that the faculty here is decent and some of the professors are actually great. One gets to learn a lot from them. What I personally disliked is the infrastructure. The admission process comprises of three stages: CBT(Computer Based Test) consisting of a total of 300 questions. GD and PI I preferred this college because : ~It's a recognized course from a central university ~The ROI is good ~The faculty and the college life are decent. ~Proximity to my home town. I got to know some insights of the college prior to the application process from some of my current seniors in the college.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course due to the various positive insights that I got from my current seniors regarding the curriculum, faculty, the companies vising for internships and placements, college life, and the difficulty level of the exams. Having said that, the curriculum is designed really well to suit the needs of the industry. With the in-depth analysis that the case studies offer, one gets acquainted with the market needs, and the decision-making ability essential for handling critical market situations is gradually instilled in the students. The faculty to student ratio is 1:8. The professors here are well qualified and experienced and the quality of the lectures and the level of interaction with the faculty is satisfactory. Of course, some exceptions are always there. The term examinations are usually held timely (except this time in 2020-2021 due to the pandemic) The exams require a decent level of understanding of the curriculum and some practice to excel.
Internships Opportunities
On-campus internship opportunities are provided. The students are always free to grab better offers off-campus. Marketing and Finance oriented roles remain prominent in these internships. Stipend around 10k might be offered depending upon the role.
Placement Experience
Students in the Second Semester are eligible for the placements provided they have no backlogs in any of the previous semesters. The top companies vising the campus are ICICI Prudential, ICICI bank, Hero Moto Corp, ITC, etc. Around 30 to 40 percent of the batch gets placed through the campus placements. Again, this ratio varies each year with the quality of the batch enrolled and the merits of the students.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The cost of this 2-year programme is around 70000, way below what M.B.A. in today's scenario costs to the candidates. Also, scholarship around 55% is available to students from economically weaker backgrounds. The students can register for the scholarship provided by their respective states or for that by the central government.
Campus Life
Annual events like Aaghaaz, Anubhuti, among various others are conducted annually. New books are provided by the college management each semester the charge for which is included in the course fees. apart from that Library is available for various other reference books, journals, and articles. The training and placement committee members of the college successfully run a page on Instagram where details of various events of the college are updated timely.
Hostel Facilities
The Hostel facility is provided by the Allahabad University for a minimal charge of around 20000 annually. Apart from that, rooms are available for students at an affordable cost of around 3k to 4k per month which may or may not include the dining facility.
Interview Experience
The topics or GD were generic like the Indian caste system, dowry system, social effects of the pandemic, economic effects of the pandemic, some positive impacts of the pandemic, etc The questions in the interview were from the hobbies first of all and then from some critical topics like GST, Demonetization, and other critical issues relating to the economy.
