Remarks

CIEM is a very good college located in the heart of south Kolkata. It is well connected through metro services and other public transport. The campus is large and spacious. It has experienced teachers in different fields, helping students not only in the academic field but also encouraging them to participate in other co-curricular activities. The college has developed an Innovation Lab, which encourages students to think out of the box and helping to transform their ideas into practical work, providing access to various competitions and exhibitions. Lately, the college is giving a moderate level of placements to its students, but from the last two years, the numbers and standard of placements have gone up, thus giving its students a breakthrough in the professional world.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is based on the MAKAUT syllabus, the standard technical university of West Bengal. It has 2-semester exams per year. The teacher to student ratio is 1:60(maximum) Most of the teachers are post-graduate, some even have doctorate degrees.

The college provides various internships for all of its students across various streams. Mostly the internships start from the 2nd or 3rd year. The college placement cell helps the students by informing the students about various ongoing internships. Some to mention are HP, Ciscon, KIIT, etc.

Moderate placements are given in this college, where a large number of students get placements in various companies. But from the last two years, the level and number of placements have increased largely. College also provides internships for its students.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total cost of the course is Rs 3,57,000/-, to be paid in 4 years(per semester). Students of financially weak backgrounds are given half fee and full fee waiver by the college, depending upon the decision of the college authority.

Campus Life

There is a huge NAAC accredited library on the campus, containing various books and journals. There is an annual fest called 'Celsius' which is celebrated on a large scale. There are grounds non the campus, and also have separate teams for respective sports like cricket, football, etc. There are also other groups like cultural groups, sports groups,s, etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very relevant and useful for us.They teach data structures algorithm that is very important for college placements and they also teach os, networks and other usefull things that is very important in computer science.They provide very high quality labs and the whole college has a good internet connection.Tecahers are very educated and good they helps us and teaching in very good way .The exams time schedule is also very good if there is any problem the college will change the exam date that is really a good thing.

The campus placement from recently past years is slightly good . Placement Experience:

7th semester is when the students get to sit for placements. I am not sure about the total no of companies visited but I am aware of the name of few companies like IBM Infosys Wipro Capsitech Tech Mahindra cognizant etc . Mostly the girls are 100 percent placed cause there is diversity hiring. Mass recruiters is what visit our campus mostly.. I personally would look for a job after graduation highest package offered displayed by college is 75 lpa but I don't think so it is real. Maybe someone had worked hard and got placed off campus. On campus highest isbi guess 12-14 lpa

Course Curriculum Overview:

- I choose Data Science as it is new to my college when comparing with the other branches. The curriculum is just okay it is not per industry standards but if students deep drives in each aspects then they are likely to crack GATE exams. - The whole curriculum needs and improvement from the very 1st Year and removal of irrelevant subjects like Discrete Mathematics, Electonics, Biology for IT branches are required. - Semester exams are conducted every 6 months and CTs are conducted every 2 months

NIT Durgapur:-A wholesome Insight in the college life and it's different aspects

Placement Experience:

For campus placements student become eligible from the 7th semester onwards and for internships student get eligible from 5th semester onwards. Wide no of companies visited our campus around 180+ and made around 580+ offers to the students. The highest salary was 58LPA which was offered by DE Shaw and the highest accepted salary was 51LPA in Microsoft.The average package rolls roughly around 10-12 LPA.The profile offered include SDE roles, management roles,finance in some cases.The overall placement percentage was around 80% with Branches like electrical and metallurgy moving above 90% followed by CSE and ECE in the mid 80s while for biotech and civil the placement percentage are generally below 70.My plans after getting the degree is to land a job offer from on campus placements.Therefafter maybe look out for and MBA from top B schools of india.

The main reason behind choosing the college over other colleges is it's electrical department's history. The electrical department has received many awards, certificates for the projects development.
