Reason for preferring this college over others: Rankings, Alumni base, Alumni industry growth, Industry connect, India's first corporate sponsored B-School, Name of blog, forum & website used while selecting this college: Collegedunia, Shiksha, Quora, imi.edu, pagalguy, mbauniverse.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because MBA is a qualification that is a minimum requirement to climb the corporate ladder, I chose to do it from IMI, New Delhi because this college hones the overall skill-set and does a holistic development of an individual. The course also makes you go through subjects which help you in corporate and are very relevant as they keep updating the courses every year according to the industry trend. Faculty:Student ratio is around 1: 9. All faculties at IMI are PhDs or equivalent and have industry exposure. All faculties are very learned as they also conduct MDPs. The pedagogy is case based and hence the learning is phenomenal. Quizzes, assignments, projects and term exams are a few components for the evaluation. After every 5 weeks, we have exams post the commencement of the course (midterm and then end term). Quizzes are scheduled almost every week. If you are studying then not at all difficult but if the student is not studying then very difficult.
Internships Opportunities
Gartner, Nestle, BMW level of companies visit the campus offering finance and marketing roles. Live projects etc by Times magazine level of organization. The institutes provide 100% assistance for the internship of a student.
Placement Experience
First year students are eligible from the 2nd trimester while final year students are eligible from the 5th trimester for placements. BMW, RPG, Gartner, Nestle, etc are the companies that come on campus for recruitment. Highest stipend: 200000, Avg stipend: 60486, Highest package: 2200000, Avg package: 1307000. 99-100% of the students get placed. My plans post-degree is for a job.
Fees and Financial Aid
The course is a bit expensive but when compared to private institutes of the same tier then it is at par or less. Fee hike takes place almost for every incoming batch. The scholarship is provided by the college to a limited no. of students as per their academic performance from each batch. Post the completion of the course the students are awarded scholarships based on their academics to around 15 students. Financial assistance is given by fee waiver to a limited no. of students who are in need of assistance by looking at appropriate details.
Campus Life
Conventus is conducted around August which is the annual management conclave in which industry experts and leaders are invited for the conclave. Kritva which takes place around February is the annual cultural and management fest. IMI MUN is another one of the many events that are organized by the students of the institute as IMI, New Delhi is a student driven campus. We have a vast availability of books & journals and other resources in the institute which can be accessed by the students. Any resource not available can be requested by the authorities which are then made available for the development and learning of students. State of the art infrastructure with all modern equipment present in class. Sports & extracurricular activities take place throughout the year on campus. A no. of clubs & societies are run by students be it dance, singing, instrumental, drama, human or animal welfare, investment, finance, economics, marketing, strategy, consulting, operations, analytics, sports.
Interview Experience
My interview had a WAT round as IMI, New Delhi does not conduct GD. Post WAT we had our PI and extempore in the same round. I was given a topic of my own choice to speak on for 2 mins and post that my questions were related to the topic I spoke on. Then the usual questions why IMI and why MBA following which I was questioned about the ministries and international current topics as well. The process for admission starts with applying to a college post which based on your CAT or GMAT score the candidates are shortlisted for interview. To prepare for these rounds I used to read current and general topics daily and attend GD & WAT rounds in a coaching centre
