Remarks
IMI, New Delhi has been the best period of my life. A place where I grew up as a person. It not only taught business lessons but also gave life lessons. Made friends for life. College management has always been very cooperative with the students and helped with everything.
Entrance Preview
CAT. The process was pretty rigorous. There was essay writing, extempore and 2 rounds of personal interviews.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course at IMI is a combination of classroom lectures, practical assignments, role plays. There was serious attention on research and getting to do independent work. It also gives freedom to research and work in the choice of your field. For instance, I had done an independent paper on parallel cinema.
Internships Opportunities
Yes the college provides summer internship program. It's an intrinsic part of the curriculum and also has academic value. General stipend, on an average would be Rs. 40,000. Internship experiences are always enriching, because it's the first time you get to implement what you study in classroom and also for the practical exposure it provides.
Placement Experience
Placements are run by Placement Committee, a student run body. Year on year the college has maintained 100% placement record. Every year about 80-120 companies visit campus with various profiles. Average salary remains somewhere close to 14L/annum. Companies like, Britannia, Nestlé, HUL, Tata Agrico, Tetrapak, Tata, L&T, JP Morgan, RPG, McKinsey, PwC, EY, Sony, Zee, Snapdeal, Shopclues and several others visit the campus.
College Events
We have several signature events. Our annual leadership summit is Conventus. That includes panel discussions and individual lectures from prominent figures from the industry. Then we have annual startup conclave, Emerge. This is a unique platform where startup heroes share their journey and discuss the burning startup arena questions. It's an open event and we see presence from Bschool students as well as start up enthusiasts. Kritva is our annual cultural event that sees participation from Bschools across the country.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is on the higher side. For my batch it was 14.2L/2 years. But now it has shot up to about 17L/2 years which I feel is bit on the higher side. It includes hostel fee, tuition fee, mess fee, library fees, caution money, etc. Tuition fee constitutes the maximum share of it.
Fees and Financial Aid
I had not availed for any scholarship programs. But I'm not sure if any such facilities are available. What I'm aware of is the fact that college helps meritorious candidates with weak financial condition to procure loan.
Campus Life
Best part of my college was, the diversity. Whereas other B schools struggle with diversity we have plethora of it. Gender ratio is almost 1:1. The college is run by student bodies. From cultural events to placements, everything is taken care by student bodies. Cultural events like Lohri, Pongal, Christmas, Diwali or Holi, everything is celebrated in campus. Annual cultural festival Kritva is very famous across B schools. Conventus is annual leadership summit. Then we have the biggest startup conclave, Emerge. The college runs a lot of MDP programs and people from various ethnicities come in and bring a lot of diverse experiences with them. I hardly remember any instance, where there was any kind of intolerance. It's a place so fast paced that there is no scope for indulgence in any such petty issues.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities were really good. We had both AC and non AC rooms. Also single and twin sharing facilities were available. For my batch hostel facilities were charged about Rs. 2,10,000. Breakfast, lunch, supper and dinner used to be served in the mess. And food quality was really good. We had night canteens as well for odd hour hunger pangs.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is vast and very receptive. There is an alumni portal and people do connect with each other. Not only jobs, but seniors do pitch in for any kind of help to the juniors. It's a very closely knit group. They help during placement season with mock sessions. They visit campus and work like a window through which we see the corporate world and how it actually works.
Exam Structure
Exams were raining like cats and dogs, all through the course. In a particular trimester the minimum number of tests happened per paper was 5 which includes end term, mid term and 3 unit tests. Apart from that each subject had an assignment and class participation points. In terms of assessments, days used to be very hectic. Professors used to very strict with assignments and class participation.
Admission
Forms are available online. Notification for my year was released in the month of December. The administration did their job to T. Student bodies helped a lot throughout the process. The process is to apply for the college with your CAT registration number. And once the results come out college contacts you if you are above cut off along with other parameters.
Faculty
All the faculties are superlative and have immense industry and teaching experience. All most all of them are fellows or doctorates. Apart from regular faculties, a number of industry experts visit us. The unique thing is, none of the classes feel like lectures as all of them are filled with some classroom activities and practical learning.
